What the Game Awards trailer puts in focus
The Game Awards’ verified upload is titled “Street Fighter Movie World Premiere Trailer from The Game Awards 2025.” The show was live from the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on December 11, 2025. The trailer’s framing points to a live-action adaptation that draws on familiar game imagery, especially special moves and the car bonus stage.
Those references matter because they are more than generic fight-film shorthand: they signal recognizable elements of Street Fighter’s video-game identity. The car bonus stage, in particular, is a distinctive callback for players familiar with the games. The official video description does not itemize the shots, however, so the title alone should not be treated as a shot-by-shot account of which characters perform which moves or how the car sequence is staged.
Who is making the live-action film
Capcom announced on September 5, 2025 that filming had begun on its live-action adaptation in collaboration with Legendary Entertainment. Capcom said the companies were jointly financing the project.

The announced cast includes Noah Centineo as Ken, Andrew Koji as Ryu, and Callina Liang as Chun-Li. Capcom also named Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoai, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, Andrew Schulz, Eric André, and Vidyut Jammwal among the starring cast; the announcement does not assign those performers additional roles in the information cited here.
When is the Street Fighter movie coming out?
As of October 7, 2026, the announced theatrical release date is October 16, 2026. Capcom named that date in its filming announcement, and Legendary’s film page lists it as the original release date. Capcom’s theater page also promotes the film as arriving everywhere on October 16. Release schedules can change, so the date remains subject to any later update from the studios.

What the trailer can—and cannot—tell viewers
The special-move and bonus-stage references give viewers a clear way to judge the adaptation’s visual connection to the games: whether familiar elements are recognizable and how they fit into a live-action movie. The trailer can also offer an early look at how the ensemble is introduced. Those are useful points of comparison, but a trailer is a short promotional edit, not evidence by itself of the finished film’s overall quality or story.
