On The View on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, Joy Behar vented about the approaching presidential election after the hosts watched an undecided voter complain that the campaigns felt like “high school gossip.” Behar said she was “having a breakdown” and could not wait for Election Day so she could sleep at night—a dramatic on-air expression of frustration, not a clinical statement.
What prompted Behar’s reaction
The segment began with a clip of an undecided voter discussing Kamala Harris’s CNN town hall the previous night. The voter objected to candidates attacking each other and said the election felt like “high school gossip.” With Election Day 12 days away, the hosts debated the voter’s reluctance to choose a candidate.

What Joy Behar said
According to The Daily Beast’s report, Behar rejected the voter’s fence-sitting and said: “Stop with the fence already, I’m sick of it! I can’t take it anymore! You see, I’m having a breakdown. I can’t wait for election day so I can sleep at night!” She also argued that Donald Trump’s insults toward Harris were more severe than Harris’s criticism of Trump.
The “breakdown” wording was Behar’s own emphatic description of her frustration and election anxiety. It should not be read as a diagnosis or as evidence of a clinical mental-health condition.

How the conversation continued
Sunny Hostin said Americans should be concerned about what might happen if Harris won and predicted a “blue tsunami.” Behar said she hoped Hostin was right, adding: “I’m not a religious person, but for this I will pray.” These were the hosts’ opinions and predictions during the discussion, not verified election outcomes.
