The 2026 runway shoe picture is not one look: spring/summer collections balance practical, pared-back shapes with playful decoration, while fall brings its own mix of classic silhouettes and personal details. Here are the trends by season, so spring flip-flops and slim sneakers are not confused with fall’s kitten heels and velvet slippers.
Spring/summer 2026: what shoes are trending?
Vogue’s spring/summer coverage describes a season swinging between minimalism and maximalism. British Vogue’s trend report adds more specific silhouettes. These are readings of runway collections, not a ranking of what consumers are buying.

Other spring/summer directions

Fall 2026: a separate runway update
Vogue’s September fall roundup describes a different seasonal mix. It includes printed flats, embellished fashion sneakers, pops of colour, velvet slippers, modern pumps, sharp stilettos, transitional T-straps, animal prints, textured shoes, and kitten heels. Keep these fall directions distinct from the spring/summer reports rather than treating every look as one continuous collection.
