Paul McCartney is the richest Beatle in the contemporary published estimates reviewed: Parade’s November 2025 ranking puts him at $1.2 billion. The figures for the other members are estimates too, not audited, directly comparable statements of wealth. For John Lennon and George Harrison, the figures refer to their estates.
Estimated net worth of each Beatle
Parade’s November 26, 2025 ranking gives the following estimates, attributing the figures to celebrity-finance sources. The estimates use different sources and methods, so the ranking is a useful snapshot of published claims—not a like-for-like accounting of each person’s assets.

| John Lennon | $800 million | Parade, 2025; attributed to Finance Monthly | Lennon’s estate |

Parade’s ranking does not establish a common valuation date or method for all four figures. Net worth is also distinct from annual income, royalties, a company’s revenue, or the value of a music catalogue considered on its own.
What the separate McCartney rich-list figure means
A more specifically identified rich-list estimate was reported by the Associated Press on May 17, 2024: the Sunday Times Rich List valued Paul McCartney and his wife, Nancy Shevell, together at £1 billion. The AP reported that £50 million of the couple’s wealth was attributed to Shevell. This is a couple-level figure in pounds, not a standalone valuation of McCartney, and it should not be merged with Parade’s later dollar estimate.

- The new Abbey Road release features the new stereo album mix, sourced directly from the original eight-track session tapes
The AP said the couple’s estimated wealth had risen by £50 million from the previous year. It cited McCartney’s 2023 Got Back tour, the value of his catalogue and renewed attention to Beatles music, including Beyoncé’s cover of “Blackbird.” Read the Associated Press report.
Why McCartney ranks ahead
McCartney’s long solo career and work with Wings add to the commercial legacy of the Beatles. Touring and the continuing value of his catalogue are also cited in the 2024 rich-list coverage as factors behind the couple’s rising estimate. That reporting offers context for the ranking, but it does not provide a full asset-by-asset accounting or a comparable calculation for the other three Beatles.

How the estimates compare with older figures
Net-worth estimates have long varied. A 1967 Time interview gave what it called conservative estimates of $3 million each for Harrison and Starr and $4 million each for Lennon and McCartney, saying the latter pair’s additional songwriting earnings explained the difference. The article immediately cautioned that the figures could be twice as high. These are dollar estimates from 1967, not present-day values or a basis for calculating modern fortunes. The Paul McCartney Project reproduces the interview.
Celebrity Net Worth’s retrospective estimates put Lennon at $200 million and McCartney at around $400 million at Lennon’s death in 1980, and Harrison at $100 million in 1980 and $400 million at his death in 2001. These are the site’s historical estimates, not verified financial statements; their different dates and scopes make them unsuitable as direct comparisons with the 2025 ranking. Celebrity Net Worth’s McCartney profile includes those retrospective figures.

What these rankings can—and cannot—tell you
- McCartney leads the contemporary published comparison cited here, but the dollar ranking is a secondary report of estimates rather than an audited set of individual balance sheets.
- Lennon’s and Harrison’s listed figures are estate estimates, not current personal net worth.
- The independently reported £1 billion rich-list figure covers McCartney and Shevell together, while Parade’s $1.2 billion figure is presented for McCartney.
- Different valuation dates, currencies, methods and included assets prevent a precise apples-to-apples comparison.
For background on the Beatles’ history and finances, Peter Doggett’s You Never Give Me Your Money examines the group’s post-breakup personal, legal and financial problems. The Library of Congress National Library Service lists the book in its Beatles bibliography: Beatles bibliography. For the band’s story in its own words, the official store lists The Beatles Anthology (25th Anniversary Edition), released October 23, 2025, with the cooperation of Paul, George, Ringo and Yoko Ono Lennon: official Beatles Store listing. These books provide historical context, not evidence for the current estimates.
