Why Carrie Ann Inaba called the response dismissive
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, reported by Good Morning America on September 25, Inaba said she was “taken aback” by Delvey’s answer. GMA quoted her saying: “That was dismissive not only of the opportunity she was given, of her wonderful and supportive partner Ezra in his debut season, but also of all of us who work on the show-from the dancers to behind the scenes to the creative team.”
Inaba also said, “We all put in the effort to give her a fair opportunity.” Her comments explain her reaction to the answer; the reports do not establish Delvey’s motive or provide a complete transcript of the exchange.

What Delvey said was her favorite part
In a later comment reported by Good Morning America, Delvey described her favorite part of the experience as “getting eliminated.” The Associated Press also reported that characterization.

The remarks came at different points: Delvey answered the question immediately after the September 24 elimination, while Inaba’s reaction appeared in an interview published the following day.
