Giadzy lists 10 minutes of prep and 8 minutes of cooking. Its recipe has four numbered instructions; the “three steps” are a useful way to group them into three phases, not Giadzy’s own numbering.
What makes this chicken parm version different?
The Giadzy recipe is an unbreaded skillet-to-oven take on chicken Parmesan. Instead of coating the cutlets in crumbs, it brushes them with olive oil mixed with fresh thyme, rosemary, and Italian parsley. Marinara, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and butter go on after the chicken browns.
Giadzy labels the recipe beginner-level, gluten-free, and nut-free. Those are the recipe page’s labels; check ingredient packaging and your own dietary needs if you must avoid cross-contact or specific ingredients.
How to make it in three phases
The method below groups Giadzy’s four numbered instructions into three practical phases. Use the quantities on the official recipe page.
#1 Best Overall
- Brush and season the cutlets. Heat the oven to 500°F. Stir the olive oil and fresh herbs together, brush both sides of the chicken cutlets, and season with salt and pepper.
- Brown the chicken. Warm a large, heavy ovenproof skillet and brown the cutlets for about one minute on each side.
- Add the toppings and bake. Spoon marinara over and around the chicken, scatter on mozzarella and Parmesan, and dot with butter. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for about five minutes, until the cheese melts and the chicken is cooked through.
Equipment to have ready
You need a large, heavy skillet that is safe to use on the stovetop and in a 500°F oven. Confirm the pan’s oven-safety rating before using it at that temperature. The short oven finish means the chicken goes from stovetop to oven in the same pan.
How it compares with Giada’s other chicken Parmesan recipes
“Giada’s chicken parm” can refer to several different recipes. These are not alternate names for the Giadzy dish; the breading, cooking method, sauce, and timing differ.

| Recipe | Method and coating | Timing and sauce | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Healthier Chicken Parmesan | Unbreaded cutlets brushed with fresh-herb oil; browned in an ovenproof skillet, then baked with sauce and cheese. | Giadzy lists 10 minutes prep and 8 minutes cooking. The recipe uses marinara and calls for about five minutes in the oven. | Giadzy |
| Chicken Parmesan | Giada-attributed Food Network skillet recipe; also uses herb oil, marinara, mozzarella, Parmesan, butter, and an oven finish. Serves four and calls for eight 3-ounce cutlets. | Brown the cutlets for about two minutes per side, then bake for three to five minutes. An optional homemade tomato sauce simmers for about an hour. | Food Network |
| Super-Italian sheet-pan chicken Parmesan | A separate, breaded baked recipe excerpted from Giada’s 2025 cookbook. The cutlets are coated in egg and garlicky breadcrumbs mixed with pecorino; the recipe makes fresh tomato sauce from cherry or Campari tomatoes and adds mozzarella. | The excerpt says it serves four; it does not state a total prep or cooking time. | Katie Couric Media, February 28, 2025 |
Giada’s “skinny chicken parm” TikTok variation is another distinct unbreaded version. Tasting Table’s March 4, 2024 account describes chicken brushed with olive oil, dried Sicilian oregano, and Tuscany salt, then pan-seared and topped with sauce and cheese. That seasoning is different from the fresh thyme, rosemary, and parsley in the Giadzy recipe. Tasting Table’s account.

The recipe supports a specific distinction: it has no breading. But the available recipe pages do not provide a verified calorie count or a like-for-like nutrition comparison with breaded chicken Parmesan. It is therefore not possible to quantify a calorie or fat reduction from the evidence available.

Katie Couric Media’s cookbook excerpt quotes Giada saying of the separate sheet-pan recipe, “I think you’ll agree that you get all the flavors you crave with a lot less fat (and greasy cleanup) than is usually part of the deal.” That is a qualitative claim about the breaded cookbook recipe, not a nutrition analysis or a claim about the Giadzy skillet recipe.
