Prince Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema, identified as the Olu of Warri’s representative to NNPC Limited and its joint-venture partners, has rejected Asari Dokubo’s claim that the monarch receives ₦2.7 trillion a year from pipeline-surveillance contracts and challenged Dokubo to produce documents supporting it. The available reports establish that the allegation was made and denied; they do not establish that the payment occurred.
What is the ₦2.7 trillion claim?
In a report published on 6 October 2026, The Guardian Nigeria said Dokubo made the claim in a viral video. The report said he first described the amount as monthly and later referred to it as annual. No supporting documents accompanied the claim in the video as described by The Guardian. The video itself and primary contract or payment records were not located for this account, so the amount and its timing remain attributed allegations, not verified payment details. The Guardian Nigeria’s report
How did the Olu of Warri’s aide respond?
Edema’s statement, reproduced by Fresh Angle News on 6 October, categorically rejected the allegation and called on Dokubo to produce documentary evidence. It says: “We challenge Mr. Dokubo to produce the documentary evidence upon which this extraordinary claim is based.” Fresh Angle News’ report reproducing the statement
The report’s reproduced text renders the currency sign in the denial as a question mark. The wording above quotes the statement’s documentary-evidence challenge without reproducing that garbled symbol.

What evidence would help establish the facts?
Edema’s statement argues that claims about pipeline-surveillance contract awards and performance should be assessed against records, not asserted amounts alone. It identifies contracts, procurement processes, corporate records, government approvals, performance reports and regulatory documents as relevant materials. Those are proposed avenues for scrutiny, not evidence that a particular contract or payment existed.
- Contract scope: Identify the contracting entity, parties, services and period covered.
- Procurement and approvals: Establish how the arrangement was awarded and what government approvals applied.
- Corporate and performance records: Verify the entities involved, their responsibilities and documented performance.
- Payment records: Trace whether money was paid, to whom, when and in what amount.
How does this relate to other pipeline-surveillance contracts?
The Guardian places the allegation within wider debate about pipeline-surveillance arrangements, including one involving Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited and Government Ekpemupolo, known as Tompolo. That context does not establish the terms, recipients, ownership or value of any contract connected to the specific allegation about the Olu of Warri.

What is established—and what remains unverified?
The published reporting establishes that Dokubo was reported to have made the claim and that Edema publicly rejected it and demanded proof. It does not establish that the Olu of Warri received ₦2.7 trillion, whether annually or monthly. No contract, procurement file, payment record, government approval or independent institutional finding confirming the figure was located in the available reporting. The claim should therefore remain clearly attributed unless primary records substantiate it.
