Former inmates reportedly alleged that Sean “Diddy” Combs watched 50 Cent’s Netflix docuseries while incarcerated, but the Bureau of Prisons had not confirmed the specific tablet-use claims, according to AOL. 50 Cent responded with a mocking Instagram post that also promoted the series.
What did former inmates allege?
Two former inmates alleged that Combs used a jailbroken tablet to watch entertainment while incarcerated at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, and that Sean Combs: The Reckoning was among the titles, AOL reported in an October 5, 2026 update. An earlier report from iHeartRadio, published September 30, said unnamed former inmates claimed Combs had access to a smartphone and a jailbroken tablet for watching movies and documentaries.
These accounts are allegations, not a verified account of what Combs watched. AOL said the Bureau of Prisons had not confirmed the specific tablet-use claims. The reporting therefore does not establish that Combs watched the series or that his access to the devices was officially confirmed.
What did 50 Cent say?
In an Instagram post promoting the docuseries, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson wrote: “Hahahahaha check out my Emmy award winning doc Sean Combs the Reckoning available on Netflix coming to a prison near you.” AOL quoted the post in its October 5 report. The joke connected the reported prison viewing to the series’ availability on Netflix; it was Jackson’s reaction, not confirmation of the allegation.

What is Sean Combs: The Reckoning?
The series is a four-part Netflix docuseries executive-produced by Jackson and directed by Alexandria Stapleton. ABC News reported that it would begin streaming worldwide on December 2, 2025. Its footage includes material from the days before Combs’ September 2024 arrest.
Jackson told ABC News that he chose to executive-produce the series because, “If I didn’t say anything, you would interpret it as hip-hop is fine with his behaviors.” That earlier explanation is separate from his 2026 response to the reports about prison viewing.

Why is the documentary footage disputed?
Combs’ representative told ABC News that Netflix relied on footage that was not authorized for release. Stapleton gave the opposing account, telling the outlet: “It came to us, we obtained the footage legally and have the necessary rights.” Those are attributed positions; ABC News’ report does not resolve the dispute.
