What is the Crystal Sky dial?
Crystal Sky is AP’s name for the dial’s dark-blue embossed surface. The pattern consists of irregular raised forms with sharp facets, intended to suggest crystals and create depth and brilliance. Its appearance is therefore produced by relief and light across the surface, rather than by a plain blue dial.

According to AP, the stamping die used to create the pattern was made by electroforming, a metal-deposition process. The method is part of how the distinctive relief is formed; the brand does not describe it as a natural crystal dial. Mayer compared the look to “a moonless sky,” and described a compelling dial as “a picture window”—something to look into rather than simply at.
Why is Calibre 5134 significant?
AP describes this reference as the last limited edition equipped with Calibre 5134. That wording identifies the final limited-edition iteration using this calibre; it does not mean this was the only Calibre 5134 watch or that earlier versions did not exist.

On its editorial page, AP traces the movement family’s history to Calibre 2120/2800, which it dates to 1978. The brand says Calibre 5134 launched in 2015 for the 41 mm Royal Oak perpetual-calendar format, and gives the calibre’s thickness as 4.3 mm. AP characterizes the earlier 2120/2800 as the world’s thinnest selfwinding perpetual-calendar movement at the time; that historical superlative is AP’s claim.

What does the collaboration add?
The collaboration brings Mayer’s stated visual idea to a Royal Oak perpetual calendar whose defining feature is an unusually textured dial. AP Chief Executive Officer Ilaria Resta described the partnership as a natural fit between Mayer’s interest in complicated watches and his creativity. The official description establishes the collaboration and the design rationale; it does not provide a production count or a market valuation.
