New York court records identify Donald Trump’s Trump Tower apartment, called the “Triplex” in the appellate decision, as 10,996 square feet. The same decision says certain financial statements described it as 30,000 square feet and recounts historical valuations from $80 million to $327 million between 2011 and 2021. Those are figures from litigation—not a current appraisal.
How big is the Trump Tower penthouse?
The New York State Law Reporting Bureau’s 2025 appellate decision identifies the private triplex as 10,996 square feet. It says certain statements of financial condition instead used 30,000 square feet. The gap between those figures—19,004 square feet—was central to the dispute over the apartment’s reported value.
The decision recounts testimony that a valuation professional was told the apartment was “quite large” and “around 30,000 square feet.” That wording is testimony as reported by the court, not a verified direct quotation from the apartment’s owner. Read the appellate decision.
What did Trump say about the apartment’s size and floors?
Trump publicly described the residence as occupying the top three floors of Trump Tower. That statement concerns its position in the building; it does not establish its area. The court decision supplies the documented area: 10,996 square feet for the triplex.

In a historical quote reproduced in a 2022 Forbes retrospective, Trump described the ceilings as “35-foot ceilings!” The quote is not evidence of the apartment’s total area. Forbes’s retrospective revisits the earlier reporting.
How did the reported area affect the valuation dispute?
The appellate decision recounts reported valuations for the apartment ranging from $80 million to $327 million between 2011 and 2021. It also describes the area misrepresentation as having inflated the apartment’s value by up to $200 million through 2017. These are historical figures recounted in litigation, not estimates of what the apartment is worth today.

The court says that after Forbes published its May 2017 report on the penthouse’s size, financial statements from 2017 through 2021 used the correct area. The decision also notes that the price-per-square-foot inputs remained disputed. In other words, correcting the area did not by itself settle every question about valuation.
Does the Trump Tower atrium describe the private apartment?
No. Trump Tower’s public atrium, waterfall, retail spaces, and shared building amenities are separate from the private condominium. The building’s official page describes public-facing building features; it does not verify the triplex’s room layout, interior design, or furnishings. Trump Tower’s official website provides building-level context, not an inventory of the apartment.
