Adam Stephens, the son of Samantha and Darrin on Bewitched, was played by twin brothers David and Greg Lawrence. The Television Academy lists both brothers in the role; an individual episode record, however, credits David alone.
Who played Adam on Bewitched?
The actors were David Lawrence and Greg Lawrence. The Television Academy’s series cast listing identifies both as Adam Stephens and gives their role period as 1971–72. Adam is Samantha and Darrin’s son in the show.
Why do some episode credits name only David Lawrence?
Cast records can differ in scope: a series-level entry may identify both performers who shared a role, while a record for one episode may list only the actor credited for that installment. The Paley Center’s catalogue entry for “Sisters at Heart,” dated December 24, 1970, names David Lawrence as Adam Stephens.
That episode record does not contradict the Television Academy’s series-level listing of David and Greg together. It documents David’s credit for that episode, not a complete account of every performer associated with Adam across the series.

What the records establish about the twins
- The Television Academy’s listing names David and Greg Lawrence as Adam Stephens for 1971–72.
- The Paley Center’s record for the December 24, 1970 episode “Sisters at Heart” names David Lawrence in the role.
- The Television Academy says Bewitched ran on ABC from 1964 to 1972; the earlier episode date in the Paley catalogue and the later role period in the Academy listing refer to different records and should not be treated as the same kind of date.
A fan-maintained Bewitched.net page about Adam also describes the brothers as twins who shared the part and says David’s name appeared in the credits. The primary records support the central distinction: both brothers are listed for the series role, while David is named in the cited episode record.
