You can make a real-world version of the Halo 2 BR55 as a nonfunctional cosplay or display prop—not as a firearm. The most grounded approach is to use the game’s visual design as reference, choose a scale, then assemble and finish a printed replica. The Halo 2 manual’s ammunition and firing details describe fiction, not real-world specifications or construction guidance.
What the Halo 2 Battle Rifle looks like
The Halo 2 manual calls it the “BR55 Rifle.” Its fictional description identifies a 36-round magazine, a top-mounted 2X optical scope and three-round automatic bursts. For a prop, these details are visual cues: a compact bullpup-like silhouette, the characteristic magazine, the optic and the overall BR55 profile.
The manual also gives fictional figures of 9.5 mm ammunition and a 36-round capacity. Those are in-game lore, not specifications for a real weapon or instructions for making one. See the Halo 2 Game Manual, Current UNSC Weaponry.
Choose a scale and version before building
A community UNSC weapon scale chart lists the BR55 at 89.9 cm long. Treat that as a starting reference, not an official manufacturing dimension: check the specific Halo 2 or Halo 2: Anniversary model or render you want to reproduce before committing to a pattern. Game art, perspective and versions can vary. The chart does not state a year. Halo.Bungie.Org UNSC Weaponry Scale Chart

Assemble a printed replica
A prop assembly tutorial describes joining printed sections and lists CA glue or epoxy among its supplies. Those are options named by that tutorial, not universally suitable adhesives: check the instructions for your specific kit and confirm the adhesive is compatible with its material. The tutorial documents a maker’s workflow rather than an independent materials test. Cyberforge’s BR55 build tutorial
For a kit, inspect how it is divided into pieces, what assembly and finishing work it requires, and whether its maker supplies material-specific instructions. Search phrases such as “CA glue for 3D printed props” can help identify options, but this article does not recommend or test a particular product.

Buy a finished or partly finished prop
A specialist 1313 Props listing described its BR55 as a 3D-printed PLA replica at “universe scale,” intended for cosplay. When accessed on October 4, 2026, it showed a $180 price and sold-out status. That is a dated listing snapshot, not a current price or indication of availability. - Scale and fidelity: Confirm the stated length and whether the design follows Halo 2 or Halo 2: Anniversary. Treat 89.9 cm as a community reference point, not a guaranteed dimension.
- Material and finish: Find out what the replica is printed from and whether it arrives raw, assembled or painted. The cited listing specifies PLA; do not assume other sellers use the same material.
- Assembly and painting: Check how many sections need joining and what filling, sanding or painting the maker expects you to do. Follow the kit maker’s compatibility and finishing guidance.
- Cosmetic features: Ask whether the optic or other visual details are fixed, moving or illuminated. Do not assume a feature is included unless the listing says so.
- Use and durability: Choose according to whether you need a shelf display or a prop to carry in cosplay. Ask the maker about handling and care rather than assuming a printed replica will withstand a particular use.
- Availability and terms: Check current stock, shipping, returns and any event or venue rules that apply to carrying props.
Keep the result clearly nonfunctional
Make the BR55 recognizable through its silhouette, magazine shape, optic and finish—not through any attempt to reproduce firearm function. The sources support lore reference, scale guidance and cosplay-prop assembly; they do not establish an official real-world firearm or provide a safe basis for converting the fictional design into one.

The Battle Rifle’s significance is not limited to its appearance. In a Halo Waypoint interview, Greg described it as a long-running part of Halo’s competitive scene and said it felt right as a starting weapon for Halo Infinite’s spiritual reboot. That speaks to the weapon’s place in the franchise, rather than how to build a prop. Halo Waypoint interview
