At Super Bowl LVIII Opening Night, he said, “We’ll have to see,” then added, “I would love to experience Down Under, for sure.” His comments—and a cryptic remark on the New Heights podcast—prompted speculation while Swift’s Australian Eras Tour dates were underway. Later reporting placed Kelce in Sydney on February 22, 2024.
What Kelce said in Kansas City
At Super Bowl LVIII Opening Night in Las Vegas, Kelce was asked about going to Australia. The Kansas City Star reported on February 19, 2024, that he answered, “We’ll have to see,” and said, “I would love to experience Down Under, for sure.” Those remarks expressed interest, not a confirmed itinerary.
That week, Kelce also hinted at travel on the New Heights podcast, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason. He said, “I’m about to go venture to an island real soon.” Asked where he was going, he replied, “I think the best ones are south,” then, “so I think I’m going to go south.” The Kansas City Star suggested the clues might point to Australia; Kelce did not name Australia or Swift in that exchange.
Swift’s Australian dates were already underway
Swift arrived in Melbourne on February 14, 2024, before the Australian leg of the Eras Tour. Entertainment Tonight reported that she had three Melbourne dates and four Sydney dates beginning February 16. The Kansas City Star’s February 19 report noted her Melbourne shows and upcoming Sydney dates, placing Kelce’s comments amid an active tour schedule.

Later reporting placed Kelce in Sydney
The speculation was followed by a reported visit. In a retrospective timeline, the Kansas City Star says Kelce flew to Sydney on February 22, 2024, visited Sydney Zoo with Swift, and attended one of her concerts. The account says Swift ran into his arms after the show, and that Kelce then returned to Las Vegas for more Super Bowl celebrations. The timeline establishes what was reported afterward; it does not turn his earlier Kansas City remarks into a public confirmation of travel plans.
Kelce on Swift’s impact on Chiefs fans
Separate from the Australia speculation, Kelce spoke about Swift’s presence at Chiefs games. The Associated Press quoted him saying, “She’s definitely brought a lot of new faces to the game and it’s been fun to experience that.” That comment concerned the football audience and the attention around the games, not his travel plans.

How to read the timeline

- February 19: The Kansas City Star published Kelce’s “We’ll have to see” and “Down Under” remarks, along with the podcast clues. Australia remained unconfirmed in those comments.
- February 22: The Kansas City Star’s later timeline places Kelce in Sydney with Swift.
The key distinction is between a hint interpreted by a reporter and a trip documented in later coverage. Kelce’s remarks fueled the question; the retrospective account supplied the subsequent Sydney timeline.
