The couple’s custom system is concealed behind living-room cabinetry, turning a personal reference into part of a home designed for entertaining.
The apartment’s first-meeting reference is hidden in the living room
In Architectural Digest’s October 8, 2025 feature, the karaoke system is explicitly connected to Deschanel and Scott’s meeting on Carpool Karaoke. Their home-tour video also describes a custom karaoke setup hidden in cabinetry and intended for gatherings. The sources do not identify the installed system’s make or model, so the setup is best understood as a custom feature rather than a named product.
How the karaoke setup fits the apartment’s design
The home is a New York City duplex designed by the couple in collaboration with interior designer Young Huh. Their goal was to restore historic character while making room for contemporary function. The resulting scheme layers patterns, murals, wallpaper, vintage pieces, and artisan details with modern home technology.
Concealing the karaoke equipment keeps the living room’s decorative cabinetry visually integrated while allowing the space to serve as a gathering place. It is both a practical design choice and a personal detail tied to the couple’s story.

What is—and is not—known about the karaoke system
The sources establish that the couple have a serious, custom karaoke setup concealed behind cabinetry, but they do not name the equipment or provide specifications. Anyone looking for a similar setup should treat “home karaoke machine” as a general product category, not as the identity of the system in the apartment; reproducing the built-in look would also require cabinetry designed to accommodate the equipment.
