How did HaVon’s performances shape his path to the win?
According to the Los Angeles Times, HaVon had not sung for two and a half years before auditioning with Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain.” During the Top 5 finale night, he performed “I Will Always Love You” and Donna Summer’s “Last Dance.”
In a TVLine interview published May 22, 2024, HaVon said he thought of himself as a ballad singer. “Last Dance” was not a song he would have chosen for himself, but he enjoyed performing it and saw it as a chance to explore another musical direction.
