Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is set to conclude its story with a trilogy of theatrical films adapting the Infinity Castle arc. The first film has been released; in a 2026 interview, Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini said the second was in production but had no release date. No date for the third film is established by the official announcements covered here.
How the Infinity Castle trilogy is planned
The anime’s official English-language site announced on July 1, 2024, that the Infinity Castle arc would be adapted as three films for theatrical release worldwide. The announcement named Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment as distributors outside Japan and some Asian territories; it does not guarantee identical release arrangements in every country. Read the official trilogy announcement.
Rahul Purini, Crunchyroll’s CEO and president, described the structure in a 2026 interview with GamesRadar+: “Infinity Castle was the first one. There’s two more to go.” The trilogy is intended to adapt the series’ final arc, rather than to launch a separate story. Read the GamesRadar+ interview.
When is the next Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movie coming out?
No release date for the second film has been announced in the official pages covered here. In the 2026 GamesRadar+ interview, Purini said it was actively in production, adding: “The studio wants to bring it to fans as quickly as possible. We just don’t have a date yet.” That is a production-status update, not a release announcement. No date for the third film is established either.

- Tanjiro Kamado, joined with Inosuke Hashibira, a boy raised by boars who wears a boar's head, and Zenitsu Agatsuma, a scared boy who reveals his true power when he sleeps, board the Infinity Train on a new mission with the Fire Pillar, Kyojuro Rengoku, to defeat a demon who has been tormenting the people and killing the demon slayers who oppose it!
What happened to the first film?
The first installment opened the trilogy and is identified by Aniplex’s Japanese home-video listing as Infinity Castle Part 1: Akaza Returns. The official English anime site also announced a return to theaters in the United States and Canada on March 6, 2026, with Japanese-language screenings with English subtitles and English-dubbed screenings; SCREENX was available at select locations. That North American engagement date has passed and should not be read as a schedule for the later films or for other territories. See the official North American theatrical notice.
Where and how to watch
The announced plan is theatrical, with Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment handling distribution outside Japan and some Asian regions. The announcement does not establish a streaming service or streaming date, and it does not mean every country will receive the films on the same schedule. Check local cinema listings and official regional announcements for availability. For the North American theatrical return, the official notice described both Japanese audio with English subtitles and an English dub, plus SCREENX in select locations.
