Who was Ship on The Masked Singer Season 12?
Ship was Paula Cole, the singer-songwriter behind songs including “I Don’t Want to Wait.” FOX’s official Season 12 premiere announcement had set the season premiere for September 25, 2024, and FOX’s Masked Singer account published Ship’s reveal on October 9, 2024.
Why did Ship’s identity seem exposed before the reveal?
TVLine published a preview on the morning of the October 9 episode that identified Cole as its prediction for Ship. The preview also reported that Ken Jeong’s guess was Alanis Morissette. Those were separate things: Cole was TVLine’s theory, while Morissette was Jeong’s guess—not an official confirmation before the episode.
The guessing format gave viewers material to weigh. FOX said Season 12 clues could be embedded in costumes, song choices, and on-stage moments, and that each masked singer would have a celebrity Masked Ambassador. Those were season-wide clues and features; they do not establish a complete Ship-specific clue trail.

How was Ship unmasked?
In its contemporaneous account of the October 9 episode, LiveNOW from FOX reported that Ship and Woodpecker were both eliminated. It also reported that Jenny McCarthy correctly guessed Cole before Ship was unmasked.
The available accounts establish the identity, the episode’s double elimination, and McCarthy’s correct guess. They do not establish a complete list of Ship’s performances or a verified, comprehensive clue-by-clue explanation. A Us Weekly search excerpt mentions a performance of Bastille’s “Pompeii,” but that detail is not independently confirmed by the other cited accounts, so it should not be treated here as settled.
