Reports said they instead went to an Easter service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, while Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, joined the family for a private Easter weekend near Anmer Hall. The reported explanation was family time, but the couple did not publicly confirm their reason.
What the Wales family did on Easter Sunday 2025
King Charles and Queen Camilla led the royal gathering at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on April 20. William, Kate and their children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis—were not there. ABC described it as their second consecutive year away from the Windsor service.
That absence did not mean the family skipped Easter church. HELLO! reported that they attended the 11 a.m. service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, near their home at Anmer Hall. News24 also reported their attendance at the local service.

Why did they miss the Windsor gathering?
News24 attributed the plan to unnamed sources who said William wanted to spend extended time with his family over Easter, including time together before the children returned to school. That is a reported explanation, not an on-record reason given by William or Kate. ABC said at the time that no reason for their Windsor absence had immediately been provided.
The reports establish a different Easter plan, not a feud or deliberate snub. The fact that the family attended a local church service also matters: they were reported to have observed Easter at Sandringham rather than at the Windsor royal gathering.
