Vudu’s 99-cent movie rentals are documented as past promotions, but the available records do not establish that the deal is active today. If you are looking for a rental now, check the current Fandango at Home/Vudu listing and confirm the price shown at checkout; the historical offers are not proof of a current price.
What Vudu’s 99-cent rental offers were
Vudu ran several kinds of sub-dollar rental promotion over the years. They were limited offers rather than evidence of a standing rental price, and the format changed over time.
A selected film in 2011
On July 26, 2011, Walmart announced that customers could rent or buy VUDU titles, including new releases, through Walmart.com. As part of the announcement, customers could vote for a selected new-release movie that would be available to rent for 99 cents on July 29. The release said digital rentals could be streamed through Walmart.com, VUDU.com, or compatible VUDU-enabled devices, without a subscription. Walmart’s July 26, 2011 announcement
A daily offer, then a rotating list
A February 2014 Vudu forum discussion referred to a “99 cent movie of the day.” A participant identified as VUDU Engineering said the offer was unavailable that day because of an issue with the film and would return the next day. In a separate November 2014 discussion, a user reported that a listed rental did not initially appear at the 99-cent price; the VUDU Engineering participant later said the price appeared correct. These posts illustrate that availability and displayed price could be issues, but they describe specific incidents from 2014, not current service conditions. - Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
In a January 2, 2015 forum thread, a participant identified as VUDU Engineering said the daily offer had changed to “a rotating monthly list of 100 $0.99 rentals.” That is a dated description of the promotion’s format at the time; it does not establish that the same list, selection, or price exists now. Does Vudu still offer 99-cent rentals?
The documented promotions are historical: the 2011 Walmart announcement and Vudu forum posts from 2014 and 2015 do not confirm a current 99-cent offer. The available evidence therefore cannot answer “yes” for today. It also does not prove that no such promotion is available now; current availability remains unverified.

How to check a rental price today

- Check the rental option and price shown for that specific title.
- Confirm the price at checkout before completing the rental, especially if a promotional price appeared on the listing.
A historical offer may have applied only to a selected film or a rotating selection. Do not assume that every title qualifies, or that an old promotion’s price or terms still apply.
