In June 2025, rapper DDG asked a Los Angeles court to prevent Halle Bailey from taking their son, Halo, to Italy. The request was not a general travel ban: the Los Angeles Times reported that the court denied the requested restriction. The dispute unfolded amid the parents’ separate restraining-order and custody filings.
What did DDG ask the court to do?
In early June 2025, DDG sought an emergency hearing and asked the court to stop Bailey from taking Halo to Italy. His filing framed the proposed trip as a safety and jurisdiction concern. Those were arguments made by DDG, not findings by the court, according to The Independent’s June 4 report.
Bailey opposed the request, saying she had a work commitment in Italy, the Los Angeles Times reported June 6. The newspaper reported that the court denied DDG’s request to prevent international travel. A later account by LegalClarity says travel was permitted under the court’s arrangement and supervised visitation was allowed during the trip; those details are secondary reporting, not a direct quotation from the order.
Why was the trip part of a larger custody dispute?
The travel request came after Bailey sought a temporary restraining order and custody-related relief in May 2025. In her declaration, Bailey alleged physical, verbal, emotional and financial abuse. The Associated Press reproduced her statement: “Throughout our relationship,” Bailey said in court papers, “Daryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me. I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse.” This is Bailey’s allegation, not a judicial finding.

DDG’s later filing also made allegations, including concerns he characterized as Bailey’s emotional instability and Halo’s safety. The Los Angeles Times’ reporting on the filings and later proceedings does not establish either parent’s allegations as proven facts. The court’s denial of the travel restriction should not be read as a ruling on the truth of those separate claims.
What happened after the court denied the travel request?
In October 2025, Bailey and DDG signed a stipulation filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, dismissing their mutual requests for restraining orders and setting temporary custody terms. The Los Angeles Times reported that Bailey would have physical custody except on Wednesdays and certain weekends. The agreement also limited social-media posts about Halo and public disparagement.

Those terms were described as temporary. The available reporting does not establish that the court entered a final custody judgment or what the current docket status is as of October 4, 2026. The October stipulation is therefore not evidence, by itself, of the parents’ present custody order.

No. DDG asked the court to stop the Italy trip, but the Los Angeles Times reported that the request was denied. That specific ruling is different from a permanent or general permission governing all future international travel; the reports cited here do not establish such a broader rule.
