When did Reneé Rapp release “Leave Me Alone”?
There are two source-specific dates: Universal Music Canada announced the single on May 21, 2025, while Apple Music’s US listing displays May 20, 2025 as the song date. The dates reflect what each source reports; they should not be treated as the same announcement.
Universal Music Canada introduced the track as the start of a new era for Rapp and announced BITE ME, her sophomore album, for August 1, 2025. The label also said the single earned Rapp her highest-ever day-one Spotify streams at the time, without providing a stream count. What does “Leave Me Alone” mean?
The Associated Press describes the lyrics as alluding to Rapp’s exit from HBO’s The Sex Lives of College Girls, attention around her role in the 2024 Mean Girls film, and pressure to release more music after the reception of Snow Angel. That is AP’s interpretation of the song’s context, not a definitive explanation from Rapp.
Rapp told AP, “I write lyrics in the way that I talk.” She also described “Leave Me Alone” as a proper introduction to the album, rather than offering a single fixed interpretation of its lyrics. Read the AP interview.
Does “Leave Me Alone” have an official music video?
Yes. Universal Music Canada announced the single with an official video. The label’s description says Rapp appears with blonde doppelgängers, in scenes that move from a pillow fight to a brawl; its characterization of the video as chaotic, fun, thrilling, and energetic is promotional language from the label. The announcement is available here.
Is Reneé Rapp’s “Leave Me Alone” available on vinyl?
The official artist store’s Music collection lists a 7-inch vinyl pairing “Leave Me Alone” with “Leave Me Alone (live).” The listing establishes that this physical release exists; it does not establish current stock, pressing details, or availability through other retailers.
