The sources agree that the couple had three sons, but they do not use the same name form for the youngest. The Hall of Fame feature says “Ricky,” the Foundation biography says “Enrique,” and MLB uses “Roberto Enrique.” The available sources do not establish whether Ricky is a nickname for Roberto Enrique, so it is safest to preserve each source’s wording rather than present that connection as certain.
What happened to Clemente’s family after his death?
Roberto Clemente died on December 31, 1972, in a plane crash while traveling with relief supplies intended for earthquake victims in Nicaragua. His wife and three sons survived him. In the Foundation biography, Vera remembered him not only as a ballplayer but as “a father, a husband, a wonderful man.”
