The couple announced their engagement on February 28, 2022. Contemporary reports said they had been dating since summer 2021, or for less than a year; they did not establish an exact date when the relationship began. The Los Angeles Times reported the announcement, as did ABC News.
Where did Underwood describe the engagement getaway?
Underwood said the milestone followed his birthday, during a weekend trip with Brown to Big Sur, California. As quoted by the Los Angeles Times from his remarks to People, he said: “After my birthday, Jordan and I went to Big Sur for a weekend getaway to decompress and relax in nature.” He added, “I couldn’t have pictured a more beautiful place to celebrate an amazing milestone in my life and relationship.”
The reports place the engagement milestone in Big Sur, but do not specify the exact proposal date or describe how the proposal happened. Underwood also celebrated the news on Instagram with the caption “life is going to be fun with you.” ABC quoted another post in which he called Brown his “best friend, teammate and now fiancé.”

What happened after the engagement?
Underwood’s wedding plans in 2022
In a March 2022 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Underwood said he did not want a televised wedding: “That’s a hard no, no matter what the dollar amount is.” At that point, he said the couple had not chosen a location. He described wanting a large outdoor event and a “very nontraditional” ceremony; those were preferences at the time, not a final account of the wedding.
The couple married in 2023
Underwood and Brown married on May 13, 2023, at Carneros Resort and Spa in Napa Valley. UPI reported that the celebration lasted three days.
