There is no single path—or definitive list—that represents every Latina model. These six profiles show different routes through fashion: runway work, beauty campaigns, industry milestones and, in Talisa Soto’s case, film. Identity descriptions below follow the cited sources rather than assumptions about nationality, family roots or appearance.
Established careers and lasting milestones
Talisa Soto: fashion and film
HipLatina describes Talisa Soto as Nuyorican and points to a career that moved between modeling and acting. Her magazine-cover work is part of her modeling profile; her film roles include License to Kill and Mortal Kombat. That crossover makes her a useful example of a career extending beyond the runway. HipLatina’s 2020 roundup provides the cited career context.
Adriana Lima: a long runway chronology
Victoria’s Secret’s official biography says Lima entered Ford’s Supermodel of the World contest in 1996 and made her runway debut at Anna Sui’s New York Fashion Week show in 1997. It also records her return to the Victoria’s Secret runway in October 2024. The biography says Lima personally identifies as Afro-Brazilian, a specific self-identification rather than a label to infer from nationality. Victoria’s Secret described the return this way: “And we were honored to bring her back for her highly anticipated runway return in October 2024.” Read the Victoria’s Secret biography.
Joan Smalls: representation and fashion work
Joan Smalls is described as Puerto Rican by HipLatina and as Afro-Latina in that roundup and Vogue España’s feature. Vogue España reports that in 2011 she became the first Latina to represent Estée Lauder cosmetics. That dated milestone is one part of a broader fashion career, not a definition of it. HipLatina also discusses her runway and magazine-cover work. Vogue España’s 2019 feature and HipLatina’s 2020 roundup offer the cited context.

Models whose work spans runway, campaigns and industry change
Dilone: runway, beauty and editorial work
HipLatina identifies Dilone as Afro-Dominican and highlights work across fashion and beauty, including brand clients and magazine appearances. The profile illustrates a career that is not confined to a single channel: runway, campaigns and editorial visibility all contribute to how a model’s work is seen. HipLatina’s 2020 roundup lists selected examples.
Denise Bidot: a dated New York Fashion Week milestone
HipLatina describes Bidot as Puerto Rican and Kuwaiti. Its 2020 roundup reports that in 2014 she became the first plus-size model to walk for two straight-size brands at New York Fashion Week. This is a specific historical claim as reported by that source; it should not be generalized into a broader claim about all fashion representation or treated as a current industry ranking. Jocelyn Corona: from Mexico City to major campaigns
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s 2026 profile says Mexican model Jocelyn Corona began modeling in Mexico City at 16 and built a presence at New York Fashion Week. It cites campaigns for Fenty Beauty, L’Oréal, Marc Jacobs, Pandora and Jean Paul Gaultier, and reports her SI Swimsuit debut in Loreto in 2026. These details provide a dated snapshot of her career, rather than a prediction about what she will do next. Read her 2026 SI Swimsuit profile.

“Latina” is an umbrella description, not a single nationality or racial identity. The examples here include a Nuyorican model, an Afro-Brazilian model who self-identifies that way, a Puerto Rican and Afro-Latina model, an Afro-Dominican model, a Puerto Rican and Kuwaiti model, and a Mexican model. Those descriptions are not interchangeable. The selection is intended to introduce distinct documented careers, not rank models or claim to represent every Latina experience.

The historical milestones come from sources published in 2019 and 2020, while Corona’s profile is dated 2026. They are useful for understanding those moments and careers, but do not establish a current ranking or a complete roster of working models.
