Red Dead Redemption and its standalone expansion Undead Nightmare launched on mobile and current-generation consoles on December 2, 2025. Netflix subscribers can play the mobile version through the Netflix app; owners of certain PS4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One versions may qualify for a free console upgrade. The upgrade is not stated to cover every historic copy of the game.

Netflix Help Center’s game page is the place to check device and access details. Its optimization statement does not establish a technical comparison with console editions.
Which consoles received the release?
Rockstar announced the December 2, 2025 release for PS5, Xbox Series consoles and Nintendo Switch 2, alongside iOS, Android and Netflix mobile availability. The announcement identified Double Eleven and Cast Iron Games as collaborators on the new console versions. Rockstar’s announcement also named availability in the GTA+ Games Library and PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on launch day. That launch-day statement does not by itself confirm current catalog inclusion.

- When federal agents threaten his family, former outlaw John Marston is forced to hunt down the gang of criminals he once called friends.
- Experience Marston’s journey across the sprawling expanses of the American West and Mexico as he fights to bury his blood-stained past in the critically acclaimed predecessor to the 2018 blockbuster, Red Dead Redemption 2.
- Also included is Undead Nightmare, the iconic horror story that transforms the world of Red Dead Redemption into an apocalyptic fight for survival against a zombie horde.
Rockstar Store describes the console release as the complete single-player experiences of both games, with additional content from the Game of the Year Edition. The store page says Red Dead Redemption has no multiplayer content. Rockstar Store’s listing currently shows PS5 and records December 2, 2025 as the release date.
Who can get a free PS5 or Xbox Series upgrade?
Rockstar’s announcement says owners of the PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions, plus owners of the digital backward-compatible Xbox One version, can upgrade digitally for free and carry over progress. That description is specific to those versions and formats. It does not promise the same entitlement for every older copy, including an original Xbox 360 disc. Rockstar Support’s PS4-to-PS5 instructions separately confirm that the PS4 version can be upgraded for free.
