The wider holiday-horror canon includes human killers, supernatural Santas and a murderous machine—but two familiar titles in this nine-film list are only adjacent fits: Black Christmas has no explicitly identified Santa killer, and The Mean One is a Grinch-inspired creature feature.
How to read this killer-Santa list
“Evil Santa” can mean very different things on screen: a human wearing the familiar red suit, a supernatural or demonic Santa, or a machine built to resemble him. The films below move between slasher horror, psychological horror, comedy and science fiction. The list preserves nine Christmas-horror entries, while marking where the Santa connection is loose rather than literal.
The nine films, from direct fits to seasonal neighbors
1. “And All Through the House” — Tales from the Crypt (1972)
This segment pairs a woman who has murdered her husband with an escaped killer dressed as Santa who stalks her. It is one of the list’s early, direct versions of the killer-in-a-Santa-suit premise. [GeekChamp]
2. Black Christmas (1974): holiday horror, not a Santa-killer film
Black Christmas belongs in a Christmas-horror watchlist, but not strictly in a list of films where Santa Claus is the killer: Santa is not explicitly identified as the murderer. Treat it as an adjacent seasonal slasher rather than an evil-Santa story. [GeekChamp]

3. Christmas Evil (1980), also known as You Better Watch Out

4. Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)
Billy’s traumatic past leads him to commit murders while dressed as Santa. The film is a clear slasher example of the trope and a strong starting point for viewers who want the literal killer-Santa setup. Rotten Tomatoes likewise describes it as a 1984 horror film about an orphan who becomes a killer Santa at a toy store. [GeekChamp] [Rotten Tomatoes]
