As reported in September 2025, former NFL running back Shaun Alexander and his wife, Valerie, had 13 children and were expecting a 14th. The reported list includes their daughter Torah, who died at 70 days old in 2017.
Who are Shaun Alexander’s children?
Hindustan Times reported these 13 names: Heaven, Trinity, Eden, Joseph, Justus, Temple, Honor, Jedidiah, Torah, Eternity, Hosanna, Hope, and Judea. Us Weekly’s September 2025 report described the family as having ten daughters and three sons, while listing twelve children by name and discussing Torah separately.
Us Weekly and Hindustan Times reported that Torah, the ninth child, died 70 days after her birth in 2017. Her name is included in the reported count of 13 children.
What did Shaun Alexander announce about a 14th child?
In a September 25, 2025 report, Us Weekly said Alexander announced on Kay Adams’ Up & Adams show that he and Valerie were expecting their 14th child. The outlet quoted him saying, “We’re just now starting to tell people,” and, “But number 14 is in the belly.” It reported that he did not disclose the baby’s sex. This was an expectation at the time of the report, not confirmation of a later birth.

What has Alexander said about family life?
In a Seattle Seahawks interview published September 12, 2019, Alexander described family as a priority after retirement: “Family. I’m able to spend a lot more time with my family.” He spoke then about family Bible study, spending time with or homeschooling his children, sharing a large family dinner, and evenings together. He also said, “We live in a farm town, so we like to go on family walks. That’s very old fashioned but, it’s a lot of fun. We also love to play family board games.”
That interview is a dated account of family life in 2019, when Alexander said they were expecting their 11th child; it does not establish the family’s current routine.
