Spoilers ahead. “A Girl’s Ego” is Season 7, Episode 20 of My Hero Academia and the series’ 158th episode. Himiko Toga uses Twice’s appearance and Infinite Doubles to corner the heroes, while Ochaco Uraraka tries to get close enough to talk to her.
What happens in “A Girl’s Ego”
The official synopsis sets up a clash between Toga’s overwhelming attack and Ochaco’s attempt to reach her. Toga takes on Twice’s appearance and uses Infinite Doubles against the heroes. Ochaco tries to approach Toga and talk rather than treat the encounter as only a fight.
The episode’s central tension is therefore both physical and personal: the heroes are under attack, but Ochaco is also trying to understand the person behind it. The official Japanese series announcement describes Toga as someone whose idea of “normal” was rejected by society, and frames Ochaco as trying to understand that normality even while Toga turns a blade toward her. That is the announcement’s thematic framing, not dialogue spoken in the episode.
What the conflict means
The episode places Toga’s private idea of an ordinary life beside the harm her choices cause other people. Ochaco’s effort to recognize Toga’s humanity does not make the danger disappear; it asks whether understanding can be attempted in the middle of an active threat. One way to read the title, “A Girl’s Ego,” is as a question about selfhood, desire and the wish to be recognized. That is an interpretation of the episode’s framing, not a confirmed statement of creator intent.
