Stone said she had not been offended and was fine being the butt of the joke; David Spade, who co-hosts the podcast with Carvey, called the sketch “so offensive.”
What happened in the 1992 sketch?
The sketch, titled “Airport Security Check,” reportedly aired in April 1992. Carvey played an airport security character he later described as an “Indian man.” During the fictional screening, guards urged Stone’s character to remove clothing. The Los Angeles Times reported that she ended the bit wearing a skirt, heels and a bra. The Los Angeles Times recounts the sketch and the later conversation.
What did Carvey say in his apology?
Stone appeared on Carvey and David Spade’s Fly on the Wall on March 20, 2024. Carvey said he had watched the sketch that morning and wanted to apologize publicly. “I want to apologize publicly for the security check sketch,” he said, adding, “It’s so 1992, you know, it’s from another era.” Spade responded, “So offensive.”
The episode transcript published by PodScripts records the exchange, and the Los Angeles Times also reported it. Read the PodScripts transcript.

How did Sharon Stone respond?
Stone said the sketch had not bothered her: “That was funny to me. I didn’t care. I was fine being the butt of the joke.” She also said, “We didn’t have this sense,” referring to the way people at the time did not regard the sketch as wrong.
Her response was distinct from Carvey’s retrospective apology and Spade’s judgment. The exchange does not establish that Stone demanded or formally accepted an apology; she described her own reaction as unoffended and forgiving.

Stone’s separate recollection about her 1992 appearance
In the same episode, Stone recalled that protesters opposed to her AIDS activism stormed the stage during her 1992 opening monologue and threatened to kill her. The Los Angeles Times and The Independent reported that she credited SNL creator Lorne Michaels with intervening and protecting her. This account is Stone’s recollection as reported by those outlets, rather than an independently verified description of the incident. The Independent’s report covers the account.
