The AFL’s published schedule placed her performance at 1:40 pm, before the match began at 2:30 pm; ABC reported that she opened with “Roar.”
When and where did Katy Perry perform?
Perry performed at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne as part of the Telstra Pre-Game Entertainment. The AFL announced her as the headliner in July 2024. Its published schedule for September 28 listed her slot at 1:40 pm, 50 minutes before the scheduled 2:30 pm match start. These are the schedule’s published times, not a claim about the precise duration of her set.
The AFL’s announcement quoted Perry saying she was excited to return to Australia and the MCG. She said she looked forward to performing “in front of 100,000” fans; that figure was her stated expectation, not independently verified attendance.
What songs did Katy Perry sing?
ABC’s report on the completed performance says Perry opened with “Roar” and describes a set that combined familiar hits with new music. The cited event coverage does not establish a complete official set list, so “Roar” is the song that can be confidently identified here; a fuller song-by-song sequence should not be treated as an official AFL set list.
