Fall 2025’s Japan anime season brought back major franchises, introduced new adaptations and originals, and included feature films alongside TV series. This is an editorial selection—not an objective ranking of every show: it weighs franchise interest, the available week-one poll results, distinctive premises, and variety across genres. Release and streaming details below are territory-specific where noted.
How to read this list
“Fall 2025” here means the October–December anime season in Japan, as used by ORICON’s seasonal index. “Anticipated” is an editorial description, not a measure of what all anime viewers wanted to watch. Anime Trending’s week-one poll, whose results were reproduced in a Reddit discussion, offers one audience snapshot—not a final season ranking or a representative survey.
Poll percentages are included only for the ten titles listed in that reproduction. Netflix schedule information below refers to Netflix Japan’s October 1 announcement; it should not be read as a worldwide release calendar. Crunchyroll’s seasonal post announced a Fall 2025 simulcast lineup, but availability can vary by territory.

Other ORICON-listed October premieres
ORICON’s Japan-broadcast seasonal index includes a wider range of new and returning series than the titles with poll figures or specific platform dates noted above. Its slate is useful for readers looking beyond established international franchises; this selection reserves several places for entries with a clear premise or a change of format rather than claiming a definitive order.
-
New adaptations in the broader seasonal slate
Fall’s appeal was not limited to sequels: ORICON’s index also serves as a starting point for discovering new adaptations launching in Japan. Check the individual title’s official listing for its exact release schedule and streaming territory.
-
Fresh original series
Original anime can attract viewers who want a story without an existing manga or game to catch up on. ORICON’s seasonal index offers additional October-starting titles beyond the best-known returning franchises.

More genre variety beyond the poll’s top ten
The reproduced poll captures a particular audience response, but it does not represent every viewer or every show in the season. ORICON’s larger slate makes it possible to explore other tones and formats than the poll’s leading titles.
-
Underrated newcomers worth sampling
For viewers choosing what to try first, a distinctive premise can matter as much as franchise familiarity. The season’s broader Japan-broadcast lineup contains more options than this curated set; use the official listing and local service catalog to confirm what is available where you watch.
-
Feature films alongside television
Fureru. is the clearly identified feature-film entry among the titles here. Netflix Japan’s announcement establishes an exclusive streaming date, while the other dated entries above are series; avoid treating a streaming premiere as a theatrical opening.
What the week-one poll can—and cannot—tell you
The reproduced Anime Trending results offer a useful signal of early audience interest: SPY x FAMILY Season 3 led at 39.88%, followed by Umamusume: Cinderella Gray Part 2 at 35.64% and One-Punch Man Season 3 at 30.34%. The figures are vote shares from that poll’s first week, reproduced in a Reddit discussion in October 2025. They are not ratings, viewership numbers, or a final ranking of the season.
