Steve Perry’s 2024 comments did not announce a solo tour. He said he missed performing and was open to the possibility, while Dark Horse Records later confirmed his signing and announced his album The Season 3. A 2026 report about Perry not joining Journey’s final tour addressed Journey—not whether he might tour solo.
What Perry said about touring
In a Rolling Stone Canada interview published May 16, 2024, Perry said he had signed with a new label and spoke about missing the experience of performing. “It’s something that I’m absolutely missing terribly,” he said. On touring, he added, “As far as touring again, I never say never at this point,” followed by, “At this point, I’m also hoping.”
Those remarks expressed openness and hope, not a confirmed plan. The interview announced no solo-tour dates, venues, or ticket sales.
Why Perry had not toured behind Traces
Perry said he had not toured behind Traces, his 2018 album. He mentioned age-related aches and pains. Trev Lukather, who was also interviewed, described the physical demands of performing and said the question was whether Perry felt comfortable doing it. Lukather praised Perry’s voice, saying, “He can still sing has ass off.” That was Lukather’s assessment, not an announcement from Perry about touring.

Which label did Perry sign with?
The 2024 interview did not name the label. On October 11, 2024, Dark Horse Records announced Perry’s signing and identified The Season 3 as his first album for the label. The announcement gave a November 8 release date and described the album as six newly recorded songs. Perry said, “I am so pleased to announce that I have just signed with George Harrison’s label, Dark Horse Records.”
What the 2026 Journey report does—and does not—say
A UPI report published February 19, 2026, quoted Perry saying he had no plans to join Journey’s final concert tour and was continuing to explore new creative work and music. That statement concerns a Journey tour. It does not confirm or rule out a separate solo tour.
