To keep one bhajan from sounding much louder or quieter than the next, measure and normalize each song by perceived loudness—not just peak level—then listen through the playlist and check how it sounds in stereo and mono. YouTube’s Stable volume may help eligible viewers, but it is not available for every video and should not replace preparing your files.
Why bhajans in a playlist can sound uneven
Videos may come from different recordings, editors, microphones, or mastering processes. Their highest peaks can be similar while their perceived loudness differs. Peak normalization adjusts the highest sample peak; loudness normalization measures perceived level in LUFS and is better suited to making separate tracks sit at a comparable level. Audacity describes loudness normalization as the appropriate tool when several tracks need comparable levels (Audacity Manual: Loudness Normalisation).
Normalization cannot restore detail that was not captured or remove distortion already present in a recording. Treat a consistent target as a starting point, then listen: devotional music depends on dynamics, and forcing every song to sound equally dense can make it less natural.
Prepare and normalize the audio
- Keep untouched originals. Make working copies of each source video or audio file so you can return to the original if an edit clips, distorts, or over-compresses the sound.
- Measure the whole audible song. Bring the tracks into an editor such as Audacity and measure each song’s perceived loudness in LUFS. Measure the full audible programme rather than an arbitrary short passage; peak level alone does not describe perceived loudness.
- Choose a consistent target for your listening context. Apply the same target to each track, then listen critically. The YouTube sources cited here do not establish an official YouTube LUFS target. EBU R 128 is a broadcast recommendation, not a YouTube requirement: its version 5.0 recommends average programme loudness of −23 LUFS for broadcast programme audio and uses Loudness Range and Maximum True Peak Level descriptors (EBU R 128, version 5.0). Do not treat that broadcast figure as a required YouTube setting.
- Keep ordinary stereo channels linked. Normalize the left and right channels together. Audacity warns that independently normalizing them can change stereo balance. Adjust channels separately only when they are genuinely separate recordings and correcting an intentional or source-specific imbalance is appropriate.
- Inspect the result. Listen for clipped peaks, unwanted silence, abrupt level changes, phase issues, or musical dynamics that have been flattened. Compare the start and end of every song as well as the transitions between neighboring tracks.
Check the playlist on more than one playback path
Listen through the sequence on headphones and on a single-speaker or mono playback path. YouTube notes that stereo may be converted to mono on a one-speaker mobile device; poor mono compatibility can reduce quality or mute sound (YouTube Help: Troubleshoot audio or video issues with uploads on YouTube). A mix that seems balanced on headphones can reveal phase cancellation or an unexpectedly quiet element when summed to mono.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Listen especially at each transition: the last seconds of one song, any silence between tracks, and the opening of the next. This helps catch a loudness jump or a cut that individual track previews might miss.
Export settings and upload route
YouTube’s general upload troubleshooting guidance lists AAC-LC audio at 128–256 kbps and a sample rate of 44.1 or 48 kHz. Use settings appropriate to your editor and upload route, and check the exported file before uploading (YouTube Help: Troubleshoot audio or video issues with uploads on YouTube).

YouTube also publishes encoding guidance for Content Manager partners that lists AAC-LC or Opus, 48 kHz, and 384 kbps for stereo. That guidance is specifically for those partners, so it should not be applied as a universal requirement for ordinary channel uploads (YouTube recommended upload encoding settings).
Turn audio into a video
YouTube does not accept audio-only uploads as videos. Put a still image or other picture together with the audio in a video editor, export the resulting video, and upload it. You can then arrange uploaded videos into the intended playlist (YouTube Help: Upload YouTube videos).

Can YouTube automatically balance volume between videos?
YouTube’s Stable volume feature “balances the range between quiet and loud, continuously adjusting volume levels to reduce variations in sound.” Its availability varies, and it is disabled for YouTube Music and official music videos, so viewers may not have it for every bhajan video. Prepare and check the source files rather than relying on this playback feature to make a playlist consistent (YouTube Help: Control video volume on your device).
Troubleshooting uneven or poor sound
- One song remains much louder after peak normalization: Peak normalization aligns peaks, not perceived loudness. Measure and apply loudness normalization to the full tracks instead.
- Stereo image shifts after processing: Check whether left and right channels were normalized independently. For ordinary stereo, link the pair and process them together.
- Audio becomes weak or disappears on a phone speaker: Check mono compatibility. A stereo mix can lose elements when converted to mono; inspect phase relationships and revise the mix before export.
- The exported video has unexpected silence, clipping, or a jarring handoff: Review the export and listen through the beginning, end, and transition of each neighboring pair. Re-export after correcting the source rather than assuming YouTube will fix it.
- You cannot upload the audio file as a video: Add a still image or other video picture in an editor, export a video file, then upload that file.
Or let it run in the cloud
Once your bhajan videos are prepared and uploaded to YouTube, StreamNeo can keep a playlist stream live from the cloud: upload your video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the files as uploaded at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free day.
