A March 2026 report describes Whoopi Goldberg theatrically falling back during a comic Hot Topics exchange on The View. It also says Sara Haines made a joke during the conversation, but does not confirm that Haines collapsed. The available account does not describe a medical emergency.
What happened during the segment?
Entertainment Weekly, in a report syndicated by Yahoo on March 12, 2026, places the moment in a Hot Topics discussion about comedian Chelsea Handler’s new relationship and guest cohost Sheryl Underwood’s dating preferences. As the conversation continued, Goldberg said she might fall asleep, then lowered her head and fell back theatrically. Did Sara Haines collapse too?
The report says Haines supported Underwood’s preference and joked, “I’ll be your wife.” That passage does not say Haines fell or collapsed. Because the available account is not a transcript or verified footage, it does not settle whether any additional physical gag occurred; it is not enough to state that both cohosts collapsed.
Was it a medical emergency?
The account describes a staged, humorous moment by Goldberg. It does not report that either host fainted, was hurt, or needed medical care. “Collapse” in this context should not be read as evidence of a health crisis.

What is The View, and where can viewers look for episodes?
ABC describes The View as a daytime talk show featuring Hot Topics and conversations with celebrities, newsmakers, and politicians; its show page lists Goldberg and Haines among the cohosts, though such pages can lag current-season information.
ABC’s September 3, 2026 announcement says season 30 began live on ABC on September 8, with episodes streaming the next day on Disney+ and Hulu.
