Spoilers for the ending and mid-credits scene. The Fall Guy has two distinct kinds of surprise appearance: Jason Momoa shows up as himself in the film’s ending, while original TV stars Lee Majors and Heather Thomas appear as police officers in the mid-credits scene. Along the way, the movie nods to The Six Million Dollar Man and several classic action films.
Who cameos in The Fall Guy?
The 2024 film is an action-comedy about Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling), a stuntman returning to work after a near-career-ending accident. He is drawn into a search for missing star Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) while working with his former partner Jody Moreno (Emily Blunt), now directing a movie. David Leitch directed the film, which Universal describes as inspired by the 1980s television series of the same name.
Jason Momoa appears as himself
Momoa appears near the end as the replacement star in Jody’s movie-within-the-movie. The joke is set up earlier when Tom Ryder writes himself a note wondering whether Momoa’s surname is spelled “Momoa” or “Mamoa.” The gag pays off in the ending; it is separate from the credits scene. ComicBook.com explains the setup and payoff.
Lee Majors and Heather Thomas return in the mid-credits scene
Majors and Thomas, who played Colt Seavers and Jody Banks in the original television series, respectively, appear as police officers after the main ending. Stay through the mid-credits scene to see them. TVLine’s cameo guide and ComicBook.com’s breakdown identify their roles.

The premiere appearance is not a movie cameo
Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day appeared as their Saturday Night Live Beavis and Butt-Head characters at the Los Angeles premiere. That was a red-carpet appearance, not a scene in The Fall Guy, according to the Associated Press.
What does the Bionic Man sound mean?
A fight scene includes the distinctive “Bionic Man” sound effect, a reference to The Six Million Dollar Man, another series starring Lee Majors. It is an audio Easter egg—not another appearance by a character. Editor Elísabet Ronaldsdóttir confirmed the sound cue and described the new film as “very loosely based” on the old series, with homage rather than a direct retelling. Frame.io’s interview with Ronaldsdóttir discusses both the sound and the adaptation.

Which other movies does the action reference?
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
A truck action sequence draws on the truck chase in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Director David Leitch told TIME that the team started with that influence and developed its own version.
Smokey and the Bandit and Hooper
TIME also connects the canyon jump near the end to jumps in Smokey and the Bandit and Hooper. These are stunt-cinema nods, rather than actor cameos.

How closely does the film follow the original TV series?
The movie keeps the central idea of a stunt performer but reworks the story and characters rather than closely retelling the series. The Majors and Thomas appearance and the Bionic Man sound cue are especially direct links; the other references draw on action-film history. Universal’s film page describes the 2024 movie and its premise, while the Frame.io interview characterizes the connection to the original show as loose.
Why the stunts are part of the movie’s homage
Leitch, a former stunt performer and stunt coordinator, emphasized practical work at a Directors Guild of America Q&A on May 25, 2024: “It was all practical. For this movie it was a no brainer. We had to fight to be authentic to the stunt world and do as much practical as possible.” The film’s action references sit alongside that focus on stunt craft. The DGA Q&A records his comments.
