There is no official CameraFi Live preset for a continuous YouTube music stream. The best settings are the ones your phone, audio setup, and upload connection can sustain without interruption: start conservatively, test the complete setup, and monitor stream health. YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a 2-second keyframe interval, and a pre-broadcast test; its recommended video bitrate depends on codec, resolution, and frame rate. CameraFi’s setup guide · YouTube encoder settings

Before you choose settings: check the channel and source

  1. Enable YouTube live streaming in advance. Sign in to the intended YouTube channel through CameraFi and confirm that the channel can go live. CameraFi’s July 11, 2025 setup guide says activation may take up to 24 hours after enabling the feature. CameraFi setup guide
  2. Choose the CameraFi mode that matches the actual source. Use camera mode for phone or external camera footage. CameraFi also documents screen mode, audio source selection, and audio or other overlays. The documented controls are Android-specific; do not assume iOS offers identical options. CameraFi Android guide · CameraFi Live product page
  3. Decide what viewers will see. A music stream still needs a visual source. If using a fixed phone-camera shot, secure the phone and frame the scene before the test; CameraFi does not require a tripod. If the stream is audio-led, test the chosen visual and audio combination rather than assuming a particular mode will capture every audio source.

Recommended CameraFi and YouTube settings

Setting Practical choice Why it matters
Resolution and frame rate Choose a level the phone and upload connection can sustain during a real test. Do not assume the highest available resolution is best for a mostly static music stream. YouTube says to choose quality appropriate to the connection; the recommended bitrate varies with resolution, frame rate, and codec. YouTube encoder settings
Video bitrate Use YouTube’s recommendation for your selected codec, resolution, and frame rate, then verify stability with a test stream. There is no single bitrate established as best for all phones or networks. A speed test helps assess the connection, but a test stream with similar audio and movement is more representative of the intended broadcast. YouTube encoder settings
Rate control CBR, where the encoder exposes the option. YouTube recommends constant bitrate for live encoding. CameraFi may not expose every encoder control listed in YouTube’s guidance.
Keyframe interval 2 seconds; do not exceed 4 seconds, if configurable. This is YouTube’s published recommendation, not a guarantee that CameraFi presents a manual keyframe control.
Video codec YouTube lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC), and AV1 as supported. Use a codec CameraFi and the device actually offer. Codec support in YouTube’s guidance does not establish that every CameraFi device or mode exposes all three.
Stereo audio YouTube lists 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz for stereo. These are YouTube’s published audio settings; CameraFi may not expose these controls.
5.1 audio YouTube lists 384 Kbps and 48 kHz for 5.1 surround. Use only if the complete audio chain supports surround and the chosen configuration is available.

YouTube recommends streaming with RTMPS, its secure extension to RTMP, and testing before going live. Use CameraFi’s available connection and encoding options; the guidance does not establish that every app version exposes a protocol selector. YouTube encoder settings

Choose and test the music audio route

CameraFi documents built-in, wired, and Bluetooth microphone choices, plus options to add audio files or combine music with microphone audio. Available behavior can differ by phone and operating system, so verify the route that actually carries your music rather than assuming internal audio capture will work in every configuration. CameraFi FAQ · CameraFi Android guide

  1. Select the audio source that contains the music you intend to stream.
  2. Make a private or otherwise non-public test using the same phone, connection, and audio path planned for the broadcast.
  3. Listen to the result. Check for silence, distortion or clipping, inconsistent volume, and audio/video sync problems. Use CameraFi’s documented audio volume and monitoring controls where available.
  4. Test again after changing a source, device, or connection. A successful test with one setup does not verify a different audio route.

Set up the YouTube broadcast and protect the stream key

  1. In CameraFi, select YouTube and sign in to the channel that will host the stream.
  2. Set the title and privacy, choose the available resolution, and create the broadcast using CameraFi’s setup flow. Confirm the selected channel and visibility before starting. CameraFi setup guide
  3. Review the YouTube stream settings and key if the workflow asks for them. A stream key lets an encoder connect to a broadcast; treat it like a password. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube’s stream settings. YouTube stream settings
  4. Run a test with the intended audio, visual content, and network conditions. Check YouTube’s stream health before making the broadcast public.

Check music rights before going live

You need the necessary rights for the music and other content in the broadcast. YouTube’s live-stream terms specify music licensing rights, including rights involving artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; an identified stream may be temporarily interrupted or terminated. If you have licensed music, YouTube says to ask the owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist, since a stream can still be interrupted otherwise. Plan stream length and the recording separately

If you need YouTube’s automatic archive, keep the broadcast under 12 hours where practical. YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all; DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable at that duration. YouTube recommends a local recording backup if preserving the broadcast matters. YouTube archive help · YouTube DVR help

Troubleshoot common problems

Symptom Likely cause to check What to do
CameraFi cannot start a YouTube live stream Live streaming may not be enabled for the channel yet, or activation may still be pending. Confirm the intended channel is enabled and allow for the activation delay CameraFi describes; its setup guide says this may take up to 24 hours.
Stream health is unstable or the stream drops The chosen quality may exceed what the connection can reliably sustain. Run a speed test, lower resolution or frame rate, and test again with the intended audio and visuals. YouTube advises choosing connection-appropriate quality and testing before going live.
Music is missing or too quiet The selected input may not carry the music, or the phone/OS may not support the assumed capture route. Check CameraFi’s audio source and volume controls, then monitor a fresh test recording or stream. Try a documented wired, Bluetooth, built-in, or audio-file route that matches the source.
Audio is distorted or out of sync Levels or the selected audio path may be unsuitable for the device configuration. Listen to a complete test, adjust available volume controls, and retest before the public broadcast.
YouTube interrupts the stream Third-party content may have been identified, including music not cleared for this channel or broadcast. Confirm rights track by track. For licensed music, ask the rights owner about adding the channel to the Content ID allowlist; do not assume a music app’s label alone clears a track.
The archive is missing or incomplete A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured, and local saving may not have been enabled or had sufficient storage. Keep the stream below 12 hours if the YouTube archive matters, enable and test CameraFi’s local save option, and verify device storage.
