Larix Broadcaster can send a live video stream to YouTube from either an iPhone or an Android phone. YouTube lists Larix for both platforms; in either case, you create or select a stream in YouTube Live Control Room, then enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key in Larix. The available sources do not show that one platform delivers better overall stream quality, stability, or battery life: the phone model, network, audio setup, and current app features all matter.

What differs between Larix on iPhone and Android?

Both versions support a Larix-to-YouTube encoder workflow, but their app listings do not describe identical feature sets. Treat each listing as the publisher’s description, not a controlled comparison of how the apps perform on equivalent phones.

What to compare Android listing iPhone listing What it means for your setup
Protocols named in the listing SRT, RTMP/RTMPS, WebRTC/WHIP, NDI HX2, RTSP, and RIST SRT, NDI, RTMP, WebRTC, and more Confirm the exact protocol you need in the current listing for your phone; do not assume the lists are identical.
Video encoding named in the listing H.264 and H.265 Not stated in the cited iOS listing Check the current iOS listing and app settings if a particular codec matters.
Multi-camera capture Listed for Android 11 and newer Not stated in the cited iOS listing On Android, verify that the phone runs Android 11 or newer. The listing alone does not establish equivalent iPhone support.
Premium price shown in the store $9.99/month $9.99/month These are store-listing prices, which can change and may vary by region or account. Check your own store before purchasing.

The Android Google Play listing reports an update on August 11, 2026. App details and Premium limits can change; confirm the current iOS or Android listing for the version and region you use.

Set up Larix to stream to YouTube from either phone

  1. Create or select the YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go live to enter Live Control Room and create a stream or select one you have already set up. Returning creators may see prior settings, including a stream key, loaded again.
  2. Copy YouTube’s connection details. In the selected stream’s settings, locate the YouTube Live server URL and stream key. Keep the key private: it authorizes an encoder to send video to that stream.
  3. Configure Larix on your phone. Add the YouTube server URL and stream key as the destination. Softvelum’s setup guidance specifies video-plus-audio mode and an appropriate bitrate; it does not establish one bitrate that fits every resolution, phone, or connection.
  4. Check the preview and sound. Before sharing the broadcast, confirm that YouTube receives a live preview and that the audio is present and intelligible. A connection to YouTube alone does not guarantee the image or sound you want.
  5. Start the encoder and confirm YouTube is live. Start streaming from Larix, then verify the incoming feed and live status in Live Control Room before relying on the broadcast.

YouTube’s encoder help lists Larix as a mobile encoder for iOS and Android and describes the server URL and stream key workflow. Softvelum provides platform setup tutorials and connection guidance at Softvelum.

Yojaro 4Pack Silicone Suction Phone Case Mount, Silicon Adhesive Smartphones Stand Sticky, Hands-Free Phone Accessories Holder for Selfies and Videos (Black & White & Translucent & Light Pink)
  • 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
  • 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
  • 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
  • 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
  • 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

Choose the phone and accessories around the event

For a documentary screening, interview, talk, or field report, the phone is only one part of the live setup. The available sources do not compare specific phone cameras, heat under sustained use, battery endurance, external-device compatibility, or upload performance. Check your exact phone, operating-system version, cable, audio route, and network rather than assuming that all iPhones or all Android phones behave alike.

  • For a fixed shot: A compatible phone mount or tripod can help hold framing. Check that the mount fits the phone and leaves needed ports accessible.
  • For speech or an event: Consider an external microphone or audio interface only after checking compatibility with the phone, its ports, and Larix’s audio route. YouTube identifies a microphone or headset as typical encoder hardware; an App Store review dated May 27, 2025 mentions one user’s audio-interface-and-tripod setup, which is anecdotal rather than a product test.
  • For a required codec or advanced feature: Verify the feature in the current store listing and app version. The listings describe capabilities such as multistreaming, HEVC encoding, adaptive bitrate, and watermark removal, but feature availability and Premium terms may differ or change.

Common setup problems and what to check

  • YouTube does not receive the stream: Check that Larix has the correct server URL and stream key for the stream selected in Live Control Room. If you created or selected a different stream, its connection details may not match.
  • The stream connects but has no sound: Confirm video-plus-audio mode in Larix and check the phone’s selected microphone or audio interface route. Test with the intended audio device before the event.
  • The picture is unstable or does not match expectations: Check the phone’s network conditions, chosen bitrate, and the preview in YouTube. No universal bitrate or comparative quality result is established for the two platforms, so adjust to the actual connection and stream requirements.
  • A listed feature is missing: Recheck the current listing and operating-system requirements. For example, the Android listing specifies Android 11 and newer for its multi-camera capture feature.
  • The displayed price or Premium limits differ: Use the price and terms shown in your local App Store or Google Play listing at purchase time; store information can change.

Or let it run in the cloud

Larix is for sending a live phone feed to YouTube. If instead you want uploaded videos to play as a continuous YouTube stream, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It keeps looping without a computer or home connection left running. Any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps streams as made at one flat price per slot; if YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically attempts recovery. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. This service streams to YouTube and plays uploaded videos; it is not a camera encoder like Larix. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
