YouTube and VideoLAN document the pieces of this workflow, not a single guaranteed recipe. Test the complete setup as a private or unlisted stream before relying on it for a long broadcast.
Before you begin: check channel access and video rights
Confirm YouTube live-stream eligibility
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days to stream with an encoder. Enable live streaming, then create or schedule an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Follow YouTube’s current setup steps in its guide to creating a live stream with an encoder.
Clear the rights to every recording
Make sure you have the necessary rights to the devotional videos, sound recordings, compositions, and any other material in the playlist. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can trigger a warning, a placeholder image, an interruption, or termination. Even when you have a license, the rights holder may need to allowlist your channel. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams and livestream terms and conditions.
Prepare a looping playlist in VLC
Check your source files and sequence
Add the Tamil devotional videos you are entitled to stream to a VLC playlist. Play each file through its ending, and check the order, picture, and sound. If you want a specific sequence, arrange it before broadcasting. VLC’s VLM documentation describes looping a broadcast input list so it starts again after the last item; see the VLC VLM documentation.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose how VLC sends the stream
VLC supports stream output and media transcoding in general, as described in VideoLAN’s Stream Output introduction. That documentation does not establish a YouTube-ready preset or a turnkey VLC configuration for every operating system, version, or RTMPS setup. Treat VLC as a possible player and output tool, then verify your actual build and settings end to end. Do not assume that a playlist looping locally proves the YouTube broadcast will remain connected.
Create a YouTube encoder stream and get its connection details
-
In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and choose the encoder workflow.
-
In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into the corresponding destination settings in your encoder. YouTube recommends RTMPS where supported.
-
Keep the stream key private: YouTube describes it as similar to a password and an address for your stream. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio before broadcasting again.

Use YouTube’s current encoder settings and bitrate guidance to confirm the ingest and output settings available to your stream.
Match the video and audio output to YouTube
For RTMP or RTMPS, YouTube recommends H.264 video with AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate, and a keyframe interval of two seconds (no more than four seconds). Its recommendations include these common H.264 settings:
| Output | Minimum bitrate | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s published encoder recommendations, not a promise of a particular result. Match the output to the source and to what your VLC configuration can encode reliably. For a mostly static devotional image, 30 fps may be sufficient; that is a practical choice, not a YouTube requirement. Check YouTube’s current encoder table before using other resolutions, frame rates, or codecs.
Test privately before the intended broadcast
-
Set up the VLC output and playlist with the YouTube stream URL and key, using the settings you plan to keep.

Start a private or unlisted test stream. Wait for the YouTube preview instead of assuming that a successful local playback means YouTube is receiving it.
-
Check picture, audio, playlist transitions, and YouTube’s stream-health indicators. YouTube advises testing actual moving video and audio and warns that connectivity disruption can break a stream.
-
Only schedule or begin the intended broadcast after this exact combination of VLC build, files, network, and output settings has passed the test.
There is no version-independent VLC command line or configuration established here as a guaranteed YouTube recipe. Follow the documentation for your installed VLC version and validate the full path to YouTube rather than copying an unverified command.

Allow enough upload bandwidth and monitor the session
YouTube recommends upload bandwidth with 20% headroom over the total stream bitrate. For example, a stream configured at 8 Mbps calls for at least 9.6 Mbps of available upload capacity under that guideline; leave additional room if other devices or services share the connection. Measure upload speed where the computer will run, and test while the network is being used normally.
A wired Ethernet connection can be a practical way to avoid some wireless variability, but YouTube requires a reliable connection, not a particular cable. During the session, watch YouTube’s stream health and check the actual audio and picture. Keep someone available to respond if the source stops, the network drops, or YouTube reports an issue. YouTube’s streaming tips explain the importance of connection stability.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Plan the broadcast length and archive separately
YouTube says live streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited guidance does not establish an unlimited single-stream duration, so do not treat that archive rule as a promise that one broadcast can run indefinitely. If the event must last longer, decide how you will handle stream duration and any restart in advance, and verify how YouTube will archive the result for your stream.
Troubleshoot common failures
-
YouTube does not show a preview: Check that the stream URL and key were copied correctly, that the stream key has not been reset, and that VLC is actually sending output. Try a fresh private test after correcting the destination settings.

-
The preview appears but has no audio or a black picture: Inspect the source file and VLC output separately, then confirm the configured video and audio codecs are supported by YouTube’s encoder guidance. Test a short sample before restarting the full playlist.
-
The stream health is poor or the broadcast disconnects: Compare the total configured bitrate with measured upload capacity, apply YouTube’s 20% headroom recommendation, and reduce output bitrate or resolution if the connection cannot sustain it. Check whether another device is using the connection.
-
The stream stops at the end of a video: Recheck the playlist order and loop behavior. VLC’s VLM documentation describes looping an input list, but the complete YouTube output still needs its own end-to-end test.
-
YouTube warns about or interrupts the content: Review the notice and the rights for the matched recording or composition. A license may not prevent automated interruption unless the rights holder has allowlisted the channel.
