If PRISM Live Studio audio is out of sync, first determine whether it is delayed by the same amount throughout the stream or drifts progressively farther out of sync. PRISM documents a millisecond-based Sync Offset for adjusting an affected audio device, along with network, device, program-priority, and computer-capacity issues as possible contributors. Its guidance does not establish one universal cause—or show that a fixed offset corrects cumulative drift.
First identify what kind of sync problem you have
Compare a recognizable sound with a visible event near the start of the stream and again later. For example, use speech alongside a mouth movement or a clap. Check the YouTube stream or replay as well as PRISM’s local monitoring, if available: a mismatch in only one place helps narrow down where to investigate.
- Fixed offset: audio is early or late by roughly the same amount throughout. PRISM’s Sync Offset is intended to adjust the timing of an affected audio device.
- Progressive drift: audio starts in sync but becomes increasingly early or late. A static offset may change the starting alignment, but the reviewed PRISM guidance does not establish it as a fix for accumulating drift.
- Sudden change: sync changes at a particular point. Note what changed then, such as an external device, a program, or a stream warning; that timing is useful when isolating the cause.
These are diagnostic observations, not a formal PRISM decision tree. The symptom alone does not identify its cause.
Check PRISM’s audio settings and devices
- In PRISM Live Studio, open Settings > Audio and confirm the intended input, output, and monitoring devices are selected. PRISM’s audio FAQ recommends checking these selections when audio is delayed or unsynchronized.
- If an external audio or video device is in the signal chain, test with it disconnected where practical. If the mismatch is associated with a particular audio device, open Advanced Audio Settings and adjust that device’s Sync Offset.
- Change the offset in small increments, then make another test recording or stream and compare the same sound-and-motion event. The control is measured in milliseconds: 1,000 ms equals one second. PRISM does not prescribe a universal correction value, so do not assume one number will suit every setup.
PRISM also gives general sample-rate guidance of 44.1 kHz for general use and 48 kHz for professional streams. Treat that as configuration guidance, not as a proven remedy for progressive drift.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Test the network connection
PRISM lists an unstable or poor network connection as a possible contributor to sync trouble. If that describes your connection, try wired Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi when your computer and router support it. PRISM’s Windows guide, “Resolving Screen and Audio Sync Issues,” specifically recommends a wired connection for this case. It is a diagnostic step, not a guaranteed cure for every kind of drift.
Check computer load and stream warnings
PRISM says synchronization may be affected when a computer lacks the capacity to process and transmit the stream. Its PC FAQ also notes that long, high-resolution broadcasts may cause heating; that makes performance and thermal symptoms worth checking, but does not prove they caused a particular sync issue.

- Close programs you do not need during the stream, particularly if several are running. PRISM notes that its program priority may be lower when multiple programs are active.
- Look for frame-drop or encoding warnings. If you see them, PRISM’s frame-drop guidance suggests reducing sources, changing 60 FPS to 30 FPS, lowering bitrate, or trying another encoder.
- Do not apply those encoding changes automatically as an audio-sync fix. They are more relevant when performance warnings or frame drops accompany the problem. PRISM says its default encoder setting is optimized for lower performance requirements and recommends leaving defaults unless a change is necessary.
YouTube detects the encoder settings selected and transcodes live streams into different output formats. Its live encoder settings guidance recommends testing with audio and video motion similar to the planned broadcast.
Run a representative test long enough to catch the drift
- Use a test with the same audio devices, video movement, resolution, frame rate, and general workload as the real stream.
- Compare sync near the beginning and again around the point when the problem usually appears. Testing across that window is a practical way to distinguish a fixed offset from progressive drift; YouTube does not prescribe a particular test duration for this diagnosis.
- Change one thing at a time—such as the selected device, Sync Offset, network connection, or workload—so you can tell whether the result changed.
- If the issue continues, record the stream duration, whether the mismatch was fixed or progressive, the devices and settings used, any warnings, and your PRISM version. PRISM’s FAQ lists the in-app Help/Contact Us route and its published support email as contact options.
Common troubleshooting mistakes
- Adding a large offset to progressive drift: an offset can adjust device timing, but PRISM does not document it as a correction for cumulative drift. Compare early and late sync before deciding what to change.
- Changing several settings together: doing so makes it difficult to identify which change mattered. Test one variable at a time.
- Reducing quality without performance evidence: PRISM’s FPS, bitrate, source, and encoder suggestions are aimed at frame-drop or encoding issues, not guaranteed audio-sync cures.
- Testing only with a still image or short clip: YouTube recommends representative audio and video motion. Include the kind of movement and sound present in the real broadcast and test through the usual failure window.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep prerecorded documentaries or other uploaded videos live on YouTube 24/7, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option—not a PRISM audio-sync repair. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not have to stay on. It supports whatever quality you upload, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
