You can set up multiple outputs, or use YouTube’s dual-format feature for horizontal and vertical versions of one event; neither should be mistaken for proof of two independent programs.
What XSplit’s “multiple outputs” does—and does not—mean
XSplit Support says, “XSplit Broadcaster allows you to stream to multiple broadcast outputs simultaneously.” Its multistreaming guide describes configuring each output and starting each one individually, with examples such as Facebook Live and YouTube Live. The guide, updated 10/11/2025, says the feature requires a Broadcaster Premium or Premium Bundle license: XSplit Support: Multistreaming to Different Platforms.
That establishes sending outputs to multiple destinations. It does not establish that you can assign a different prerecorded source to each output and broadcast those as two independent YouTube events from one running XSplit instance. The reviewed XSplit documentation does not explain that per-output source assignment or confirm the requested setup. Treat it as undocumented, not as a supported workflow.
Prepare a pre-recorded video in XSplit
Add the media to a scene
A scene groups sources into a layout. Add a prerecorded clip as a Video File source. If you want several files to play continuously within one scene, XSplit also provides a Video Playlist source. See XSplit’s guidance on adding sources to a scene and its Video Playlist source.

Configure a YouTube output
Use XSplit’s output setup to connect the YouTube destination. Depending on the output and platform, properties can include account authorization or stream credentials, server, codec, bitrate, frame rate, resolution, and network adapter. Follow the current prompts for the specific YouTube event and output; XSplit describes these options in its output properties guide.
Set up documented simultaneous outputs
- Configure the scene and media. Add the Video File or Video Playlist source you intend to broadcast.
- Set up the first destination. In XSplit, configure the YouTube output and its required authorization or stream connection details.
- Add another output. Open Broadcast > Set up a new output and repeat the setup for the additional destination.
- Check the connection and encoding settings. Match resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to the available upload capacity. XSplit notes that raising bitrate can improve quality but also increases bandwidth use; its bandwidth check can help evaluate whether the connection can support the chosen bitrate. - Start each configured output. Use the Broadcast menu to start them individually, as XSplit’s multistreaming instructions describe.
This is the documented multiple-output procedure. It is not confirmation that each output can use a different video source for two separate YouTube live events. Do not rely on it for that result without confirmation from current XSplit support or documentation.

Do not confuse two YouTube formats with two independent streams
XSplit also documents YouTube dual-format streaming for channels that have access to the feature. In that workflow, horizontal and vertical versions belong to one event and use separate stream keys. XSplit’s guide instructs creators to check feature access in YouTube Studio, collect the stream URL and horizontal and vertical keys, set the XSplit YouTube output to Stream Key mode, enter the connection details, and start the stream: XSplit’s YouTube dual-format guide.
That is one event in two formats, not evidence that XSplit can run two independent prerecorded programs simultaneously. Availability depends on the channel’s feature access in YouTube Studio.

Check YouTube rights and live-stream eligibility
Before scheduling either event, make sure you have the rights to the video, music, and other material in the recording. A file being prerecorded does not grant permission to rebroadcast it. Review YouTube’s current copyright policies and monetization policies; rights compliance and monetization eligibility are separate questions. Also confirm that live streaming is available for the channel and that each intended event is configured in YouTube Studio.
Troubleshooting and practical limits
- The second output will not start: Confirm that the account has the Broadcaster Premium or Premium Bundle license required by XSplit’s multistreaming guide, and verify the destination’s credentials and output properties.
- The stream stutters or drops: The selected bitrate may exceed available upload capacity, especially when sending more than one output. Reassess bitrate against resolution, frame rate, and connection capacity using XSplit’s bandwidth check guidance.
- The video does not play as expected: Check that the intended file is present as a Video File or Video Playlist source in the scene, and confirm that the scene is the one being broadcast.
- You expected different videos on two YouTube events: XSplit’s reviewed documentation does not confirm per-output media assignment for this configuration. Do not assume that creating two outputs will create two independently sourced programs.
- You cannot find dual-format access: XSplit says to check feature availability in YouTube Studio. Dual-format support is distinct from creating a second independent event.
