Yes, it appears technically possible, but XSplit does not promise that every computer can sustain an uninterrupted 4K broadcast indefinitely. XSplit documents continuous playback through its Video Playlist source and provides YouTube Live output and resolution controls. YouTube supports 2160p live streams with specified encoder settings. Whether your setup can maintain them depends on the XSplit version, hardware, drivers, and network, so test the full setup and monitor YouTube’s stream health before relying on it.
What “continuously” means in this setup
XSplit’s Video Playlist source is documented for continuous playback of multiple videos. That describes playback of playlist content; it is not a guarantee that the live broadcast itself will never disconnect. The reviewed XSplit documentation does not establish a maximum broadcast duration, an automatic reconnection guarantee, or unattended uptime commitment. See XSplit’s Sources Menu documentation and its YouTube Live setup guidance.
If you want to repeat a single video, check the controls available for the Video Playlist source in your installed XSplit version. The documentation establishes continuous playlist playback, but does not establish that a single file can independently be set to loop forever. Do not assume that a particular loop control exists in every version.
Set up a 4K YouTube stream in XSplit
- Add your prerecorded content. In XSplit Broadcaster, add a Video Playlist source and select the videos you want played continuously. Use the installed source controls to configure playback and confirm the playlist behaves as intended. XSplit also documents a Media Slideshow source that supports OGG, MP4, and WebM, but the Video Playlist source is the documented option for continuous video playback.
- Configure the YouTube Live output. In Broadcaster, set up the YouTube Live output and enter or select the stream details. If you are broadcasting to a scheduled YouTube event, select it in the broadcast details. Check the start behavior: with manual transition, you must separately press Go Live in YouTube Studio to begin the broadcast. XSplit’s YouTube Live instructions and scheduled-event instructions describe these controls.
- Set the canvas and stream output. In XSplit’s resolution and frame-rate controls, choose a 3840 × 2160 canvas and a supported frame rate, if those options are exposed by your installed build and system. Set the stream video size and FPS to match. A 4K canvas alone does not prove that the encoder, output plugin, or computer can encode and send 4K successfully; XSplit notes that available codec options depend on hardware, drivers, and streaming service. Consult XSplit’s resolution and frame-rate documentation.
- Choose an encoder and bitrate. For YouTube H.264, use YouTube’s recommended bitrate for your target frame rate. The current guidance also recommends constant bitrate (CBR), a 2-second keyframe interval (do not exceed 4 seconds), and no more than 60 fps. YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 among its supported live encoder settings; select a codec actually available and supported by your setup. See YouTube’s live encoder settings.
- Start a comparable test and watch stream health. Test with the same resolution, frame rate, audio, movement, and playlist behavior you plan to use. Check YouTube Live Control Room’s stream health while the broadcast runs. A short test can reveal configuration or upload problems, but cannot establish that a stream will remain uninterrupted indefinitely.
YouTube’s 4K encoder targets
| Target | YouTube-recommended H.264 bitrate | Keyframe and rate-control guidance |
|---|---|---|
| 2160p at 30 fps | 30 Mbps | CBR; 2-second keyframes recommended, no more than 4 seconds |
| 2160p at 60 fps | 35 Mbps | CBR; 2-second keyframes recommended, no more than 4 seconds |
These figures are YouTube’s current live encoder recommendations, not a guarantee of performance from XSplit or a particular PC. Your connection needs stable capacity above the encoded video bitrate to leave room for audio and network variation. YouTube recommends RTMPS. Its guidance says 4K streams are not eligible for low-latency optimization and use normal latency.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What determines whether 4K stays stable
- Encoder capacity: Encoding at 3840 × 2160, especially at 60 fps, places a different workload on the computer than lower-resolution streaming. Hardware, drivers, and XSplit’s available encoder options affect what is possible.
- Network headroom: A connection that briefly reaches the target bitrate may still fluctuate too much for a stable broadcast. Look for sustained upload capacity above the video bitrate and watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators.
- Source and playlist behavior: Confirm that every playlist item plays as expected and that its audio and video suit the intended broadcast. Test the actual content rather than relying on an idle scene.
- Long-run reliability: Continuous playlist playback and an uninterrupted live connection are separate things. The documented features do not establish indefinite uptime or automatic recovery if a stream drops.
Troubleshooting common problems
The stream is not actually 4K
Check both the XSplit canvas resolution and the stream’s configured video size and FPS; changing one does not establish that the other is set to 2160p. Confirm the selected output and encoder expose the intended options, then check YouTube’s stream information and health while testing.
YouTube reports unstable stream health
Compare your configured bitrate with the YouTube recommendation for the selected 2160p frame rate. Check for upload fluctuations and reduce the target or frame rate if the connection or encoder cannot sustain the chosen settings. Repeat the test with representative audio and motion.

The playlist stops or does not repeat as expected
Review the Video Playlist source’s playback controls in your installed XSplit version and test the end of the playlist before going live for a long session. The documented continuous-playback behavior applies to a playlist; the reviewed documentation does not confirm a universal single-file loop-forever setting.
The scheduled event is selected but the broadcast has not started
Check whether the broadcast uses manual transition. In that setup, selecting the scheduled event in XSplit does not replace the separate Go Live action in YouTube Studio.

The broadcast disconnects during a long session
Check XSplit and YouTube stream status and your connection, then restart or reconnect according to the controls available in your installed version. The reviewed documentation does not establish an automatic reconnection guarantee, so do not plan on unattended recovery without verifying your own setup.
