All five members pursued solo work, but the update is not the same for everyone: Liam Payne died in October 2024, aged 31. Zayn Malik had left the group in 2015; the other four released Made in the A.M. before the hiatus.
How One Direction went on hiatus
The group formed on The X Factor in 2010, after Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Liam Payne auditioned individually. Malik left in 2015. The remaining four released Made in the A.M., and One Direction announced an indefinite hiatus in 2016 after five studio albums. Sony Music UK’s catalog lists the group’s albums. The Recording Academy’s May 17, 2024 overview put the band’s sales at approximately 70 million records; that is the organization’s reported approximate figure, not a newly audited 2026 total: Recording Academy overview.
What each member has done since the band
Harry Styles
Styles built a solo recording career and also worked as an actor. The Associated Press’s October 2024 retrospective covers his albums through Harry’s House (2022) and notes its chart and award milestones. That account is a dated snapshot, not a complete record of his activity in 2026. Associated Press retrospective.
Niall Horan
Horan released Flicker (2017), Heartbreak Weather (2020) and The Show (2023), and served as a coach on the U.S. edition of The Voice, according to the AP retrospective. A March 2026 NME search result described a fourth solo album, Dinner Party, as due in June 2026, but the article was not accessible for direct verification. Its release status is therefore not established here; consult Horan’s official channels for the latest confirmed information.

Louis Tomlinson
Tomlinson’s post-band releases include Walls (2020), Faith in the Future (2022) and the live album Live (2024), as recorded by AP. A 2026 NME search result referred to a newer album and an upcoming tour, but its page could not be accessed, so neither detail is confirmed here. For current release or concert information, use an announcement from Tomlinson or the relevant promoter.
Zayn Malik
After leaving One Direction in 2015, Malik pursued a solo career. AP’s October 2024 retrospective lists four solo albums through Room Under the Stairs (2024). That chronology establishes his releases through that date, not a current tour or release schedule.

The members’ post-band paths are individual solo careers, not evidence of a current One Direction reunion. The documented status is an indefinite hiatus announced in 2016; no reunion plans are established by the sources cited here.
