If by “scheduled stream breaks” you mean mid-roll ad breaks during a YouTube Live broadcast, YouTube Studio, StreamYard, and Restream document controls for them. YouTube Studio lets eligible creators choose intervals of 6, 12, 18, 24, or 30 minutes; StreamYard and Restream offer broad frequency settings rather than a documented exact interval. Scheduling a broadcast to start later is a separate feature and does not, by itself, schedule ad breaks.
Which services document YouTube Live ad-break controls?
| Service | Can schedule a YouTube event? | Mid-roll controls documented? | What the control does | Key qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube Studio | Yes | Yes | Automatic ads, scheduled intervals of 6, 12, 18, 24, or 30 minutes, or manual ad insertion while live | The channel must be monetized and live-stream monetization enabled. YouTube Help |
| StreamYard | Yes | Yes | A YouTube Live Ads frequency selector: Conservative, Balanced, or Aggressive | The channel must be eligible for YouTube monetization. StreamYard says the setting is available on all its plans; it does not describe these choices as exact minute intervals. StreamYard ad settings |
| Restream | Yes | Yes | Conservative, Balanced, or Aggressive mid-roll frequency for Studio, RTMP, or a scheduled event | YouTube determines the exact placement and format of ads. Restream monetization |
| Streamlabs Talk Studio | Yes | Not documented in the reviewed scheduling guide | The guide describes choosing a destination and broadcast date and time | Do not infer mid-roll ad controls from event scheduling. The guide documents a scheduling window of up to 50 days. Streamlabs Talk Studio scheduling |
Scheduled ad intervals versus frequency preferences
YouTube Studio gives the documented interval choices
YouTube’s native Scheduled option lets eligible channels choose how much time passes between ads: 6, 12, 18, 24, or 30 minutes. The same YouTube Help page also describes automatic ad decisions and manual insertion while live. These settings do not guarantee an ad will be served at an exact moment: monetization eligibility, ad availability, and YouTube’s delivery still matter. See YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance.
StreamYard and Restream set a frequency preference
StreamYard and Restream document three qualitative choices—Conservative, Balanced, and Aggressive. Neither cited help page maps those labels to a fixed number of minutes, so they should not be treated as precise break schedules. Restream explicitly says YouTube decides the exact ad placement and format. StreamYard’s instructions are at its YouTube monetization settings guide; Restream’s are at its monetization guide.
What you need before using mid-roll controls
- Your channel must be eligible for YouTube monetization, and live-stream monetization must be enabled. A third-party studio cannot make an ineligible channel eligible.
- Connect or select the intended YouTube channel in the streaming service, then check the service’s ad setting for the broadcast. Exact labels and availability may change; follow the current official product guide.
- For a precise interval among YouTube’s documented choices, use YouTube Studio’s Scheduled setting. If you use StreamYard or Restream, choose a frequency profile but do not assume it means a particular minute interval.
- Keep the distinction clear: a scheduled event sets when the broadcast is due to begin; an ad-break control concerns ads during a live broadcast.
How to choose
- Choose YouTube Studio if you want the documented 6–30 minute interval choices or manual insertion through YouTube’s native controls.
- Choose StreamYard if its broadcast workflow suits you and you want a Conservative, Balanced, or Aggressive YouTube ad-frequency setting alongside its scheduling feature.
- Choose Restream if its workflow suits you and you want the same three broad frequency choices for Studio, RTMP, or scheduled events, while accepting that YouTube controls placement and format.
- Consider Streamlabs Talk Studio for scheduling only based on the cited guide; that guide does not establish scheduled YouTube mid-roll controls.
Where StreamNeo fits
StreamNeo is a separate cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live 24/7 from uploaded videos or a playlist. Its documented purpose is looping uploaded content, not choosing or scheduling YouTube mid-roll ad breaks, so it is not a substitute for the ad controls above. If your goal is an always-on prerecorded stream rather than timed ad placement, its workflow is to upload a video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Try StreamNeo’s first free day.
