To switch sermon videos without restarting a church YouTube Live broadcast, keep OBS and the YouTube encoder connection running and change the media playing inside OBS. Use a Media Source for one repeating sermon, or VLC Video for an ordered playlist. Rehearse every transition—including the last clip returning to the first—and check YouTube’s incoming preview before going live. A playlist loop is not a guarantee of gapless playback.

Choose the right OBS source

One sermon video on repeat: Media Source

Add the local video to an OBS Media Source in the scene you plan to keep on air, then enable Loop. OBS documents that Loop is off by default. If you are not looping the file, also check Show nothing when playback ends so the source does not unexpectedly leave the scene blank at the end.

OBS documents support for local video formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF and WebM; supported audio formats include MP3, AAC, OGG and WAV. Keep the files available on the streaming computer for the full broadcast.

Several sermons in sequence: VLC Video

For a playlist, add a VLC Video source and put the recordings in the intended order. Leave shuffle off for a predictable sequence, and enable Loop Playlist if the list should repeat. OBS documents Loop Playlist as on by default and Shuffle Playlist as off by default, but confirm both settings rather than relying on defaults.

  • 【AMD Ryzen 7330U】 – The Efficiency-Tuned Powerhouse,AMD Ryzen 7330U (Zen 3, SMT, 4C/8T) in KAMRUI P2 mini PC crushes rivals: Intel i3-10110U (2C/4T, 2019) and N95 (4 efficiency cores, no HT, single-channel memory). Vs predecessor Ryzen 3 4300U (4C/4T): ~50% faster single-core, ~46% multi-core, 8MB L3 cache (vs 4MB). Beats both Intel chips hugely in multi-core, making heavy multitasking, coding, data work smooth at just 15W TDP. High-end power in a cool, efficient box.
  • 【AMD Radeon Graphics】– Triple 4K Vision & Fluidity,The integrated Radeon Graphics (based on the modern Vega architecture with 6 CUs) is a visual beast, outclassing the iGPU offerings from both AMD's prior generation and Intel. The Intel UHD Graphics (i3-10110U/N95) struggles with single-channel memory and low execution units, crippling its gaming performance and barely handling basic 4K video without stuttering. While the older Radeon Vega 5 (4300U) was decent, our 7330U's Radeon Graphics (6 CUs) pushes the boundaries, delivering higher graphics clock speeds (up to 1.8GHz) and significantly better rendering capabilities. It can drive triple 4K@60Hz displays with zero lag, edit photos/videos.
  • 【Generous Storage & Easy Expansion】The KAMRUI Pinova P2 mini desktop computers comes with 16GB LPDDR4X RAM (higher frequency, lower power) for buttery‑smooth multitasking, and a 256GB M.2 SSD for blazing fast boot‑up, quick file transfers, and no more long loading screens. It also features two storage expansion slots (1x M.2 2280 SATA/NVMe PCIe 3.0 slot + 1x M.2 2280 SATA slot), supporting up to 4TB total (not included). You’ll have all the space you need for projects, media, and important data.
  • 【Triple 4K Display Output】The KAMRUI Pinova P2 mini desktop pc is equipped with HDMI 2.0 ×1 + DP 1.4 ×1 + USB 3.2 Gen2 Type‑C ×1 (with DP Alt Mode), enabling simultaneous triple 4K@60Hz output. Whether for home entertainment, remote work, or conference room presentations, it delivers an immersive visual experience. Two USB 3.2 Gen2 Type‑A ports (up to 10Gbps – 21x faster than USB 2.0) make data transfers and device expansion a breeze.
  • 【USB 3.2 Gen2 Type‑C: 10Gbps & Versatile Connectivity】The USB 3.2 Gen2 Type‑C port on the KAMRUI P2 small pc supports 10Gbps data transfer speeds and can also output DisplayPort 1.4 video. Together with Gigabit LAN, Wi‑Fi, and Bluetooth, you get a fast, flexible, and productive connected environment – wired or wireless.

VLC must be installed for the VLC Video source to appear. OBS specifically requires 64-bit VLC when using 64-bit OBS. (Source: OBS Project, “Media Sources,” updated January 11, 2022.)

Manual scene changes

You can prepare separate scenes for different videos, overlays or service segments, then transition between scenes while the encoder stays connected. A cut, fade or other scene transition is not, by itself, a guarantee of gapless playback. Rehearse it with the actual files and setup you will use.

Set up and rehearse the switch

  1. Prepare the files. Make sure each recording is stored on the computer running OBS and will remain available for the broadcast.
  2. Add the media to the on-air scene. Use Media Source for one file or VLC Video for a multi-file playlist.
  3. Set repeat and order deliberately. Enable Loop for a single repeating file. For VLC Video, check playlist order, Shuffle Playlist and Loop Playlist.
  4. Review source visibility behavior. OBS says Close file when inactive unloads hidden media; a short period may occur while it reloads when shown again. VLC Video is documented to stop when it is not visible and restart when visible by default. Choose settings for your planned scene changes and test the result.
  5. Play through the complete sequence. Check the end and start of each video, including the final-to-first loop. Listen for audio gaps or jumps; inspect picture, scaling, overlays, pauses and blank frames. Testing is necessary because the documented loop controls do not promise gapless transitions.
  6. Connect OBS to YouTube and preview. In YouTube Live Control Room, use the server URL and stream key shown for the event in OBS. Start sending the encoder feed, wait for YouTube’s preview, and check picture and audio before clicking Go live.
  7. Switch content without stopping the encoder. Change the visible OBS source or scene while OBS continues sending the stream. YouTube’s documented way to end a broadcast is to stop sending content from the encoder; for a mid-broadcast change, keep the encoder connected and change what OBS sends.

You do not need a new YouTube event for each sermon video when the intended change is simply to switch content inside the running encoder feed. The workflow above applies to the OBS output sent to the encoder; it cannot guarantee an uninterrupted internet connection, continuous encoder operation or gapless playback between files. Plan for the YouTube replay

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If the church expects a saved replay from a long-running loop, account for that stated duration when planning the broadcast; do not assume a longer stream will be archived automatically. Easily configure it into software routers, hardware firewalls (pfSense, OpnSense), home NAS servers, or local homelabs.

Troubleshoot a blank frame or interruption

  • The scene goes blank at a clip’s end: Check whether the single-file Media Source has Loop enabled. If the clip is not meant to repeat, review Show nothing when playback ends and arrange an intentional replacement scene or source.
  • A playlist does not repeat: In VLC Video, inspect Loop Playlist and confirm the final item and playlist order. Do not confuse this control with Media Source’s separate Loop setting.
  • A hidden clip pauses or takes time to appear: Review Close file when inactive for Media Source and VLC Video’s stop/restart behavior when it becomes invisible or visible. Rehearse the same hide-and-show sequence planned for the broadcast.
  • The VLC Video source is missing: Install VLC and match its architecture to OBS; OBS calls for 64-bit VLC with 64-bit OBS.
  • The video appears but audio or the handoff is wrong: Play the full sequence in rehearsal and inspect both picture and sound at every boundary, especially the final-to-first loop. The source documentation does not promise a universally gapless handoff.
  • YouTube does not show the expected feed: Confirm OBS is sending to the event’s current server URL and stream key, then check YouTube Live Control Room’s incoming preview before going live.
