You can stream a finished ASMR whisper compilation to YouTube Live from a VPS by sending the file through an encoder such as FFmpeg, looping the input, and connecting with the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio. The VPS can keep the encoder running, but that does not guarantee YouTube will stay live without interruption or save one complete 24-hour archive. YouTube says a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, so plan your broadcast and backups around that limit.
Choose what “24/7” means for your broadcast
There are two practical designs: one continuous broadcast that loops the compilation, or recurring sessions that you stop and start on a schedule. A continuous encoder can keep sending media, but YouTube’s archive guidance warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. If a complete YouTube archive matters, one 24-hour session is therefore a poor fit.
YouTube’s cited guidance does not establish a seamless handoff or restart cadence for long-running streams. If you choose recurring sessions, treat the timing and transitions as design decisions: test them on your channel and confirm what viewers see and what YouTube archives. Keep a separate local recording if you need a backup, and test that it grows correctly, survives the planned run, and produces a usable file.
Prepare the compilation and VPS
Check the media before uploading it
- Use a finished file with the intended whisper audio and visuals. Listen through representative sections and check that the audio is present, at a suitable level, and free of unintended gaps or abrupt transitions.
- Confirm the video and audio tracks, codecs, resolution, frame rate, and duration. These determine whether FFmpeg can pass the streams through unchanged or needs to transcode them.
- Check rights for every voice recording, music track, sound effect, image, and other protected material. A whisper compilation is not automatically rights-free because it contains no conventional song.
Size the VPS for the actual job
There is no universal CPU, RAM, or network allowance established for this workflow. Requirements depend on the file and whether the VPS only sends compatible streams or must transcode them. Check the VPS provider’s current network and usage policies, and test the chosen instance with the actual media before relying on it for a long run. If you record locally on the VPS, also test available storage, file integrity, and behavior after a restart.

Create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create > Go live.
- In Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream using the encoder workflow. Follow the on-screen setup for the stream’s visibility, title, and other channel settings.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream. YouTube uses the key to identify where to receive the encoder feed; treat it like a password.
- Use the RTMPS ingestion URL shown in Live Control Room when your encoder supports it. YouTube recommends encrypted RTMPS delivery, which protects the connection with TLS.
Do not publish the key, put it in a publicly readable script, or share it in screenshots. Store it in a protected configuration or secret-management mechanism available to your VPS process. If the key is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before resuming.
Loop the file with FFmpeg
FFmpeg documents -stream_loop as an input option for repeating an input, and uses -re in its example for sending a file to an RTMP destination in real time. A starting command shape is:

ffmpeg -stream_loop -1 -re -i /path/to/compilation.mp4 -f flv "YOUR_RTMP_OR_RTMPS_URL/YOUR_STREAM_KEY"
This is a template, not a guaranteed production command for every compilation. The actual source’s tracks and codecs matter: some files may require explicit stream mapping, audio/video encoding options, or a different output setup. Check FFmpeg’s output and YouTube’s preview rather than assuming this template will work unchanged. Never substitute a real key into a command that you will publish or leave readable by other users.

FFmpeg’s documented protocol example is ffmpeg -re -i myfile -f flv rtmp://myserver/live/mystream. Use the RTMPS URL supplied by YouTube when supported; do not copy an example server address as if it were your channel’s destination.
Set the audio deliberately
YouTube’s encoder recommendations list stereo audio at 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps. These are YouTube’s published recommendations, not a measurement of this compilation. Verify the output settings in your encoder and listen to the preview. If transcoding is necessary, configure the audio encoder explicitly; if you intend to copy the file’s audio stream, confirm its format is accepted by your output path.

Test, start, and monitor the stream
- Start with a test stream using audio and visuals representative of the full broadcast. Check the stream in Live Control Room before making it public.
- Inspect the preview and stream health indicators. Confirm the whisper audio is audible, the picture is moving as expected, and there are no obvious dropouts or encoding errors.
- Check the local recording, if you are making one. Confirm that the file is growing and that a short playback contains synchronized, usable audio and video.
- During the broadcast, monitor audio and video quality and watch for YouTube warnings or interruptions. A VPS process can remain active while the platform or ingest connection has a problem.
- Test your recovery plan before depending on it. If using a supported multi-encoder setup, YouTube advises testing encoder failover; do not assume a restart or handoff is seamless without checking it on your own stream.
Protect the content and plan for YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube’s Archive live streams guidance states: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” It also says: “We recommend recording a local archive as a backup.” Looping the source file does not change that platform limit. If you need a complete copy, make and verify a local recording rather than relying on a single 24-hour YouTube archive. Test storage capacity, file integrity, and restart behavior on the VPS you actually use.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If material remains in a stream, YouTube may replace the feed temporarily or interrupt or terminate the broadcast. YouTube’s livestream terms require the rights necessary to use the content, including applicable music licensing rights. For licensed third-party material, a license alone may not prevent a Content ID interruption: YouTube says to ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist.

Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not receive the encoder feed | Incorrect stream URL or key, an exposed or reset key, or a connection problem. | Copy the current URL and key from Live Control Room, verify the destination in the encoder, and check the VPS connection and FFmpeg output. |
| The preview has no sound or the audio is distorted | The wrong audio track is selected, the source track is unsuitable for the output, or encoding settings do not match the file. | Inspect the source’s audio tracks and FFmpeg output, then listen to the preview. Check YouTube’s recommended stereo 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps settings against your encoder configuration. |
| The stream stops or the feed is interrupted despite FFmpeg running | The VPS process may still be running while the network, ingest, or YouTube-side stream has failed; third-party-content detection can also interrupt a live feed. | Check Live Control Room health and alerts, the encoder log, VPS connectivity, and the rights status of material in the compilation. Test the recovery procedure before the next long session. |
| A complete recording is missing from YouTube | A session longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. | Use a tested local recording as a backup and verify the resulting file rather than relying on a single long YouTube archive. |
| FFmpeg exits or reports an output/codec error | The template command may not match the file’s tracks, codecs, or required output settings. | Inspect the source streams and FFmpeg error, then adjust mapping or encoding for the actual file. Validate the revised setup with a representative test stream. |
