One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor one lesson, use an OBS Media Source with Loop enabled. For an ordered sequence, use a VLC Video source with the lesson files in a playlist and Loop Playlist enabled. Then connect OBS to your YouTube stream, set a constant bitrate (CBR), use a 2-second keyframe interval, and choose a resolution and bitrate your upload connection can sustain. Telugu does not require a special encoder setting; test the actual audio, script rendering, subtitles, and loop transition before relying on the broadcast.
Choose how OBS should repeat the lessons
OBS repeats the video source; YouTube receives the encoded live output OBS sends. The right source depends on whether you are broadcasting one file or a sequence.
One lesson: Media Source
- In OBS, select the scene for the broadcast and use the Sources panel to add a Media Source.
- Select the lesson video file in the source properties.
- Enable Loop, then confirm the source. OBS documents this option as replaying the file when playback completes (OBS Project: Media Sources, published January 11, 2022).
- Play the source and watch the ending roll into the beginning. Confirm that the audio does not cut off unexpectedly or leave an unintended silent gap.
Several lessons: VLC Video playlist
- Install VLC if it is not already installed. OBS requires VLC for the VLC Video source; with 64-bit OBS, use 64-bit VLC.
- Add a VLC Video source and add the lesson files to its playlist in the order you want them played.
- Enable Loop Playlist so the source restarts after the last file. Keep shuffle off when lesson order matters.
- Test the transition between every file and from the final lesson back to the first. Also check what happens if a scene change hides the source; OBS documents visibility behavior for media sources, so verify it in your actual scene setup.
For a single file, Media Source is the simpler option. VLC Video suits a multi-file sequence when installing VLC is acceptable. Use an ordered playlist for a planned curriculum; shuffle is only suitable when lesson order is unimportant.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and create a live stream or select an existing one. Check its privacy and schedule before sending viewers to it.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for the stream. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter or connect the stream details as appropriate for the available interface.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not publish it or include it in a recording or screenshot. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- Start the OBS stream and confirm that the Live Control Room receives it and reports healthy video and audio before making the broadcast public.
YouTube says enabling live streaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours. If the option is not available immediately, check the channel’s live-stream eligibility and allow time for activation. See YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder and Manage live stream settings.

Set video, bitrate, and keyframes
Use YouTube’s encoder guidance as a starting point, then verify that your computer and upload connection can sustain the output. The figures below are YouTube’s current H.264 recommendations for these specific 30 fps modes, not guarantees of performance.
| Output mode | YouTube H.264 bitrate guidance | When it may fit |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps minimum; 8 Mbps recommended | Useful where lesson visuals remain readable at 720p or viewers need a more accessible stream. |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps minimum; 14 Mbps recommended | May help with small text or detailed diagrams, provided the encoder and upload connection can sustain it. |
These are platform recommendations from YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions. The table does not establish the right bitrate for every codec, frame rate, or connection.

- Rate control: use CBR (constant bitrate).
- Keyframe interval: set 2 seconds; YouTube says not to exceed 4 seconds.
- Codec and transport: YouTube lists H.264, H.265/HEVC, and AV1 as accepted video codecs and recommends RTMPS for encrypted transport. Choose a codec supported by your OBS setup and stream configuration.
- Resolution and frame rate: in OBS, set the output to match the intended YouTube stream mode. For prerecorded lessons, avoid choosing a higher frame rate than the material needs without a reason.
- Bitrate and upload capacity: use the bitrate guidance for your selected mode and codec, but do not set it above what your connection can reliably upload.
YouTube recommends 20% upload bandwidth headroom and cautions that download speed may be higher than upload speed. Run a speed test that reports upload capacity; do not use the download result as a substitute. See YouTube Help: Streaming tips.
Choose latency for lesson viewing
Latency is the delay between the stream being sent and appearing for viewers. Lower latency can increase playback buffering. For a prerecorded lesson loop with no audience interaction, low latency is usually less important than steady playback. If viewers need to pause and resume, check whether DVR is enabled for the stream. Choose the latency and DVR options in the Live Control Room based on the intended viewing experience; do not assume a particular delay or playback behavior without checking the current stream settings. YouTube explains these controls in Manage live stream settings.

Test the loop before broadcasting unattended
Do a private or otherwise non-public test using the same files, scene, encoder settings, and connection you plan to use. YouTube recommends testing representative audio and movement, then monitoring stream health and messages during the event. OBS also recommends testing scene configuration and stream smoothness in its OBS Studio Overview Guide (published August 25, 2021).
- Watch a complete lesson and the transition back to the start; for playlists, check each file transition and the playlist restart.
- Listen for missing, distorted, clipped, or unexpectedly quiet audio, including at transition points.
- Check that Telugu script and any subtitles render correctly and remain legible at the intended resolution and on a typical viewing device. This is a practical content check, not a special YouTube encoder rule for Telugu.
- Monitor the Live Control Room’s stream health and messages during the test. Confirm that OBS remains connected and the stream reaches YouTube as expected.
- Verify that the stream’s privacy, schedule, key, and intended audience access are correct before sharing it.
- Confirm that you have rights to each lesson video and to any music, artwork, or other material it contains. The encoder settings do not grant permission to broadcast those assets.
Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| The video stops at the end of a lesson | Loop is disabled or the wrong source type is configured. | For one file, check Media Source → Loop. For several files, check the VLC playlist and Loop Playlist. |
| The VLC Video source is unavailable | VLC is missing or its architecture does not match OBS. | Install VLC; if OBS is 64-bit, use 64-bit VLC. Restart OBS after installation if the source still does not appear. |
| Lessons play in the wrong order | The playlist order is wrong or shuffle is enabled. | Reorder the VLC playlist and turn shuffle off when sequence matters. |
| YouTube does not receive the stream | The stream key or URL may be wrong, the stream may not be enabled yet, or the stream is not configured as expected. | Check the selected stream and its current key in the Live Control Room, then verify the OBS stream settings. First-time activation may take up to 24 hours. |
| Buffering, dropped frames, or unstable stream health | The upload connection may not sustain the configured bitrate, or the encoder may be under strain. | Check upload speed rather than download speed, retain the recommended headroom, and try a lower output mode or bitrate that your connection can sustain. |
| Telugu text or audio is missing or hard to understand | The file, subtitle rendering, scene, or audio configuration may not be correct. | Test the actual lesson in OBS and YouTube, inspect subtitles and script rendering, and listen to the stream rather than relying only on local playback. |
