You can keep a Kannada devotional playlist live on YouTube by sending a prepared video or playlist through a software or hardware encoder connected to YouTube Studio—or by using a cloud service that loops uploaded videos. The setup is only one part of the job: secure rights to every recording and visual, and plan for stream interruptions rather than assuming a playlist will run unattended indefinitely.
What you need before you start
- Playlist media: Prepare the recordings and any artwork, lyrics, or captions you plan to show. Decide whether your stream will be a single long video or a playlist of items.
- Rights to every element: Confirm permission for each recording and included visual. A devotional song’s composition, a particular performance or recording, artwork, and captions can involve different rights.
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled: YouTube says first-time activation may take up to 24 hours. YouTube’s live-streaming setup guide explains how to create an encoder stream.
- A way to send the stream: YouTube supports software encoders running on a computer and standalone hardware encoders. OBS is one software option named in YouTube’s help material; its official help portal covers OBS itself.
Prepare the playlist and check music rights
Organize the media
Put the material you intend to broadcast in a clear order. If you want lyrics or other text on screen, check that you have the right to use that material too. Make sure the visual presentation will make sense while the playlist repeats, rather than relying on a one-time opening or closing.
Clear the actual recordings, not just the song title
Do not assume a devotional song is free to use because it is traditional, religious, or widely available online. The recording, arrangement, performance, artwork, and any other material may have separate rights. Check the permissions that apply to the specific files, your channel, and the territories where the stream will be available.
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for third-party content. A match can replace the stream with a placeholder or interrupt or terminate it. If you have licensed third-party content, YouTube advises asking its owner to add your channel to the Content ID allowlist; having a license alone may not prevent an automated interruption. Create the YouTube live stream
- Open YouTube Studio and enter Live Control Room. Create a new stream or schedule one in advance. Follow YouTube’s live-streaming setup workflow for an encoder stream.
- Allow time for first-time activation. If this is your first live stream, YouTube says enabling it may take up to 24 hours. Complete this step before the date you want to go live.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. You will enter these in your encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, share it with viewers, or leave it exposed in a screenshot.
- Configure the encoder and media source. Select the stream destination, provide the URL and key, and choose the prepared video or playlist source. The exact playlist-loop controls depend on your encoder; YouTube’s general guide does not specify a universal 24/7 loop recipe.
- Start sending the stream, then confirm it in Live Control Room. Use YouTube’s workflow to check the incoming stream and go live. Verify the channel page from a viewer’s perspective once the broadcast begins.
Choose an encoder approach

The sources do not establish a universally best encoder, minimum computer specification, ideal bitrate, resolution, or reliability design for every Kannada devotional stream. Those choices depend on the media, connection, encoder, and channel. Avoid copying settings intended for a different protocol or workload without checking the applicable documentation.
Protocol settings: use the requirements for the protocol you select
YouTube’s HLS guidance describes HLS as higher latency than RTMP because it sends video in segments. For HLS, YouTube specifies TS segments lasting 1–4 seconds and a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments. These are HLS requirements, not general settings to apply to every live stream. See YouTube’s HLS ingestion guide and follow the requirements for the protocol you actually configure.

Plan for interruptions, archives, and rights checks
A playlist does not guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast
Creating a playlist alone does not keep a channel live if the encoder stops sending, a computer loses power, a connection fails, or YouTube interrupts the stream. Decide how you will notice a failure and who can respond. The official setup guidance establishes encoder-based streaming and protocol details, but does not verify a particular monitoring, failover, restart, computer, or internet-service design for continuous operation.
Do not rely on a continuous stream as an unlimited archive
YouTube says live streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not establish an archive plan for a continuous broadcast beyond that duration. If you need a permanent recording, make a separate recording and confirm your own storage and backup plan.

Troubleshooting common problems
- You cannot start a live stream: If live streaming has not been enabled on the channel before, allow up to 24 hours for activation. Confirm the channel is signed into the correct account and that you created the stream in Live Control Room.
- The encoder cannot connect: Check that the stream URL and key were copied from the intended YouTube stream and entered in the corresponding encoder fields. If the key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- The stream starts but the playlist does not repeat: Check the encoder’s media-source or playlist behavior. YouTube’s general setup guide does not prescribe a universal looping method, so use the instructions for your chosen encoder and test the sequence before relying on it.
- The broadcast is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder: A third-party-content match may be responsible. Review YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance, confirm the rights for the matched material, and ask the rights owner to allowlist your channel through Content ID if you have licensed the content.
- An HLS stream has protocol problems: Verify the HLS-specific format and segment requirements in YouTube’s HLS guide. Do not apply its segment rules to RTMP or treat them as universal settings.
- The stream ends and no archive is available: YouTube’s stated automatic archive provision covers streams under 12 hours; the guidance does not establish what archive plan applies beyond that duration. Keep a separate recording if you need one.
