To send an OBS stream to YouTube, create or select a live stream in YouTube Studio, then enter its server URL and stream key in OBS. Malayalam does not require a special stream key. The key connects OBS to YouTube; it does not make a video playlist loop continuously. YouTube’s published guidance does not establish a native OBS setup for looping a creator’s video playlist 24/7, so treat continuous playback as a separate requirement to verify.
What a YouTube stream key does—and does not do
YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” They let YouTube accept the feed sent by an encoder such as OBS. You can create a reusable custom key, but reusing the key only simplifies connecting; it does not keep the stream alive or control what OBS plays. Keep the key private. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and replace it in OBS. YouTube’s stream settings guide explains stream keys and their management.
No Malayalam-specific stream key setting is specified in YouTube’s encoder and stream-key guidance. Do not choose a different key type because the content is Malayalam. Language and metadata are separate from the encoder connection; the exact language-field steps are not established here.
Set up the YouTube-to-OBS connection
- Check channel eligibility. The channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions.
- Create or select a stream. In YouTube Studio, open Create → Go Live, then create a stream or select the scheduled stream you intend to use. In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key.
- Enter the connection details in OBS. Open OBS Settings → Stream. Select YouTube as the service when available and connect or enter the stream key as prompted. If configuring a custom server, use the server URL and key copied from Live Control Room. OBS interface labels can vary by version; use YouTube’s current URL and key rather than a copied value from another stream.
- Test before relying on the setup. Start with a private or unlisted test if appropriate, check the YouTube preview and stream health, and confirm both video and audio before scheduling a long broadcast. A successful key connection does not prove that a playlist will restart or continue indefinitely.
Choose encoder settings for stable output
For a typical SDR stream over RTMP or RTMPS, YouTube recommends H.264 video, CBR, and a two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS. Match resolution and frame rate to the source and to upload capacity, then test with representative motion and audio. The bitrate figures below are YouTube ingestion guidance, not a guarantee that a particular internet connection can sustain them. Check YouTube’s live encoder settings reference for other codecs, resolutions, and frame rates.

If the connection cannot sustain the chosen bitrate, lower the resolution or frame rate rather than assuming the stream will remain stable. Monitor YouTube’s stream health during the test.
RTMP/RTMPS is not the same as an HLS playlist
For a conventional OBS encoder connection, use the RTMP/RTMPS settings YouTube provides. YouTube documents HLS for cases such as HDR or codecs not supported by RTMP; it has higher latency and its own segment-ingestion rules. The word “playlist” in YouTube’s HLS setup guide refers to a rolling list of media segments—not a creator’s sequence of videos. Do not select HLS simply because you want Malayalam videos to play in a loop.

Can OBS loop a Malayalam video playlist 24/7?
A 24/7 broadcast has two separate jobs: OBS must send an encoder feed to YouTube, and a playback or automation workflow must keep the intended videos playing in that feed. YouTube’s published guidance explains stream keys, scheduled streams, and encoder connections, but does not establish a native OBS procedure for looping a creator’s video playlist uninterrupted around the clock. Verify the playback and recovery behavior of your chosen setup separately before depending on it.
A reusable stream key addresses only the connection credential. It does not schedule restarts, restart a stopped playlist, or recover an encoder that loses power or internet. For a long-running DIY setup, test the full playback and reconnection workflow—including what happens after a video ends, OBS closes, or the connection drops—and retain local recordings of the source material.

Plan for archives and playback continuity
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived. A stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all; YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. A continuous 24-hour broadcast therefore should not be treated as a dependable way to create one complete YouTube replay. See YouTube’s archive guidance.
For replay controls during a live stream, YouTube documents DVR separately; it does not change the archive warning for broadcasts exceeding 12 hours. See YouTube’s DVR guidance.

Check rights before streaming prerecorded Malayalam content
You need the necessary rights for both live use and any archive. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a match can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Malayalam language does not exempt a song, film excerpt, devotional recording, documentary clip, or other material from copyright rules. Confirm that your licence covers streaming on YouTube and any resulting archive, including music and visuals. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Troubleshoot common connection and continuity problems
- YouTube does not receive the OBS feed: check that OBS has the server URL and key copied from the intended stream in Live Control Room. If the key was reset or exposed, update OBS with the replacement.
- The stream connects but looks unstable: compare the selected bitrate with the upload capacity available to OBS; test at a lower resolution or frame rate if needed, and inspect YouTube’s stream health.
- The key works, but the playlist stops: the key is only for the encoder connection. Check the separate playback and automation workflow rather than changing Malayalam or language settings.
- A 24-hour broadcast has no complete replay: streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. Keep local recordings and do not rely on a single continuous YouTube archive.
- The broadcast is interrupted after a content match: review the rights for every audio and video item, including material supplied by third parties; replace or remove content you are not authorised to stream.
