A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11To schedule a YouTube playlist rotation with Windows Task Scheduler and OBS, prepare an OBS scene with a YouTube playlist player, then schedule Windows to launch OBS at the time you want. Use YouTube’s playlist embed parameters to choose the playlist and, if needed, loop it. OBS can open a named scene with a launch argument; starting a live stream requires a separate flag and a configured stream profile.
How the scheduled rotation works
The setup has three parts: YouTube’s embedded player loads the playlist, an OBS scene contains that player, and a Windows scheduled task launches OBS. This schedules OBS to open; it does not by itself guarantee that the player will complete a rotation or that a live stream will start. Test the full sequence in your actual setup before leaving it unattended.
Build the playlist player in OBS
Choose the playlist embed
Add a Browser source to the scene you intend to use and configure it to load a YouTube playlist embed. Set the player parameters listType=playlist and list=PLAYLIST_ID, replacing PLAYLIST_ID with the ID of the YouTube playlist you want to play. YouTube documents these parameters for selecting a playlist in an embedded player: YouTube Embedded Players and Player Parameters.
Choose whether it plays once or loops
Add autoplay=1 if you want playback to start when the player loads. YouTube notes that enabling autoplay causes playback data collection and sharing to occur on page load, so consider that behavior when choosing this setting.

To request a full-playlist repeat, use loop=1. YouTube describes playlist looping as playing the full playlist and then starting again, but cautions that loop support in IFrame embeds is limited. Verify that the playlist returns to its beginning in the OBS Browser source you will actually use; do not assume the parameter guarantees an unattended rotation in every configuration.
Save and name the scene
Give the scene a distinct name and make sure its Browser source displays the intended playlist. OBS supports the --scene "name" launch option to open a named scene. The scene name in the argument must match the name in OBS.

Configure OBS to launch on schedule
Find OBS and its working directory
Locate obs64.exe in your OBS installation folder. OBS’s Windows launch guidance says a scheduled task’s working directory should point to the folder containing obs64.exe. In Task Scheduler, this corresponds to the program’s Start in or working-directory field; use the actual folder on your computer rather than assuming a fixed installation path. See OBS Launch Parameters.
Set the launch arguments
Use --scene "name" to select the scene with your playlist player. If the scheduled event should also begin a YouTube live stream, add --startstreaming. OBS documents that flag as a request to start streaming, not merely to start playback. Use it only when OBS has a configured stream profile and you intend to broadcast. If you only want OBS and the playlist player to open, omit it.

Create the Windows scheduled task
In Windows Task Scheduler, create a task with the trigger time you want and configure its action to launch obs64.exe, with the scene argument and optional streaming argument above. Set the working directory to the folder containing obs64.exe. Windows trigger and logon choices depend on the machine and account configuration; choose the settings appropriate to your Windows setup rather than assuming one combination works for every PC.
Test playback, looping, and streaming separately
- Run the task manually or wait for its scheduled time while you are present. Confirm OBS opens and the intended scene is selected.
- Check that the Browser source loads the correct playlist and starts playing if
autoplay=1is set. - If you enabled
loop=1, let the entire playlist finish and verify it begins again in the same OBS configuration. A short test of the first video does not establish that the full rotation will loop. - If you included
--startstreaming, verify that OBS actually begins the intended live stream. Treat stream start as a separate step from player playback.
Common problems and what to check
- OBS opens the wrong scene: Check that the text after
--sceneexactly matches the OBS scene name, including spaces and quotation marks. - OBS fails to launch from the task: Confirm the action points to the installed
obs64.exeand that the working directory is its containing folder. - The playlist does not load: Check that
listType=playlistis present and thatlistcontains the playlist ID, not a video ID. - Playback waits for interaction: Confirm whether
autoplay=1is set, then test the player in OBS. Autoplay behavior should not be inferred from a different browser or embed. - The playlist ends instead of repeating: Confirm
loop=1and test through the full playlist. YouTube documents limitations for looping in IFrame embeds. - OBS opens but no live stream starts: Check that
--startstreamingis included only if streaming is intended and that the OBS stream profile is configured.
Copyright and YouTube channel considerations
Before broadcasting playlist content, make sure you have the rights or permissions needed to use it. A playlist embed and an OBS schedule do not grant permission to rebroadcast videos. Also review YouTube’s current rules for live streaming and reused content for your channel and material; the scheduling mechanics do not establish whether a particular broadcast complies.
