If YouTube’s Live Control Room says your FFmpeg loop has no audio, trace the signal in order: check the source, FFmpeg’s selected output streams, a local recording or archive, and finally YouTube’s received stream. That identifies whether audio is absent at the source, excluded by the command, or rejected or flagged at ingest. Without your exact FFmpeg command, input streams and YouTube health message, there is no reliable one-line fix.
1. Confirm the source actually has audio
Start with the exact file or other input FFmpeg reads. A video file with no audio stream cannot regain its original sound through mapping or encoding. If the loop is already running, listen to or inspect a local recording or archive of the output as well; YouTube recommends checking both the source routed to the encoder and a local archive when a stream looks or sounds wrong (YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guide).
- If the source has no audio stream, choose a source that includes the intended audio. Do not expect an audio codec setting to create missing source sound.
- If the source has audio but the local output does not, focus on FFmpeg’s input selection, stream mapping, filters and output options.
- If the local output has audio but YouTube reports a problem, use the exact health message to investigate ingest format or a primary/backup mismatch.
2. Trace FFmpeg inputs and stream mapping
Read the entire command from left to right. Label each -i input and identify which input contains the audio you want. Then inspect every -map option for the output sent to YouTube. FFmpeg selects streams automatically when no mapping is specified; when -map is used, only the mapped streams are included in that output, subject to the documented exception for filtergraph outputs. A map selecting only video therefore produces a video-only output.
Check for an audio map and disabled audio
- Make sure the output maps the intended audio stream from the intended input, rather than mapping only video or audio from the wrong input.
- Look for
-an. It disables audio selection for an output; used as an input option, it blocks audio streams from filtering or selection. - Check filters and any multiple-output sections too. A correctly mapped input can still be lost if the output path or filtergraph does not carry it through.
FFmpeg’s documentation explains the stream-selection behavior in its official command-line documentation. Because the actual input inventory and command are unknown, adapt any mapping to your files rather than copying a guessed stream index.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Verify input-option placement
FFmpeg options generally apply to the next specified input or output and reset between files. -stream_loop is an input option; a value of -1 means infinite looping. Confirm it appears before the -i it is meant to affect. Its placement is worth checking when reviewing a loop command, but the documentation does not establish that -stream_loop itself removes audio.
3. Check the output locally before diagnosing YouTube
Listen to or inspect the locally recorded output produced by the same command and output path. This separates an FFmpeg problem from a YouTube ingest or network problem:

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- No audio locally: return to the source, input index, maps,
-an, filters and encoding path. - Audio locally, but a YouTube health warning: compare the audio codec, sample rate, channel layout or count, bitrate, and—if applicable—the primary and backup encoder outputs.
- Audio sounds healthy in the encoder and local archive: YouTube advises checking the outbound connection, encoder errors and CPU load as part of troubleshooting.
These checks follow YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance; a local recording is evidence about the encoder output, not proof by itself that YouTube received the same signal.
4. Match the audio format to YouTube’s ingest guidance
For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists AAC or MP3 as supported audio codecs. Its published recommendations are 44.1 kHz for stereo audio, 48 kHz for 5.1 surround sound, and 128 Kbps for stereo audio. These are recommended settings, not a diagnosis of your stream or a guarantee that changing one value will resolve a missing-audio warning. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.

Read the exact message beside the Health Indicator in Live Control Room or the Live Dashboard before changing settings. YouTube’s live-stream error messages and LiveStream health-status documentation describe issues that can include unsupported codecs, sample-rate or channel problems, bitrate warnings, and mismatches between primary and backup audio. Fix the condition named in the message, then test again.
5. Test the complete path before going live
- Use the representative video and audio you intend to loop, and verify the source contains the required audio.
- Review the exact FFmpeg command: identify every input, check input-option placement, trace maps, and remove unintended audio-disabling options.
- Inspect or listen to the local output from that command.
- Start a test stream and preview it in Live Control Room. Check the Health Indicator and the actual playback, not just the command’s exit status.
- Monitor encoder errors, CPU load and the outbound connection if the local output is healthy but the YouTube stream is not.
YouTube recommends testing with representative audio and movement before a real broadcast in its encoder settings guidance and troubleshooting guide.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuously looping YouTube channel rather than troubleshooting a specific FFmpeg command, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
